Alright, my iPod 40 gig doesn't allow it to be updated on ym computer. I just downlaoded like 100 or so songs from cd's onto my computer. Go to plug in my iPod to update it, but it doesn't work! It comes up saying it's plugged in since it has the My name's iPod but I can't update it. Anyone know what to do? Or should I kust bring it to a store and see if I can get a new one?

If you have it on manual update you have to actually drag the songs into the ipod folder in itunes, hence manual update. If you tried that already I cant help you..sorry.

When it's plugged in, check it out under iTunes and see what it's set on. If it's setting itself to store data than get with apple.

I have a very simple question

If I want one of those "Itrip" that I could put my radio station to and it plays my ipod. Do I have to program it to my ipod first? Ive heard that and dont know if its true.

I'm having 2 problems with my 40 GB 5th Gen Ipod

1: My ITunes all of a sudden will not recognize my IPod. I've tried different USB Ports but nothing works. When I plug it in, I get something that says Autoplay and then thats it

2: Lately my IPod has been freezing up alot, I'll try to change the song and it won't switch for anywhere between 15 seconds to a minute. Today it froze up for over 20 mins.

I don't know what to do about either problem, I've only had it for a little over 2 months now. Any help would be appreciated.

So vapor your pretty much the ipod master?

Well I went out and got an "Itrip" but all I really wanted was an older origianl one that hooks up to the top.

I went to Best Buy and Walmart and neither place had them. So only thing I could get is a newer version that was $50. (didnt wana spend that much) This newer model hooks onto the bottom of the ipod where it charges.

But I guess its an ok deal because it plays the entire playlist unlike the older model. The good thing about it is it will charge your ipod while it is hooked up.

Except it doesnt, do you know why?

The old top mounted iTrips do NOT charge the iPod, I had/have one of those (for my old 4g) and it USED the battery. I paid $40 for that one when I bought it. I haven't had a chance to look at the new ones, but if it's the same concept as the old, I wouldn't expect it to charge. Oh, and you have read through the instructions, correct?

Yes, I read the instructions.

It says its supposed to be charging my ipod while it is hooked up to it. So when I am playing the ipod and its hooked up it should at least not loose battery.

The charging part is not working.

Update your firmware and that should remedy both of your problems

Apple does not support taking music from the ipod to a computer. Use a program like ipodrip or ephpod.

Could he not put his ipod in disk mode, and drop his files into your e: drive under my computer. Then when you plug it into the new computer, go to my computer and open the music and put it into iTunes?
