Surprised to see Modano all the way down at 85. He should be a little higher and definitly ahead of Nieuwendyk.

!!!!!!! i didn't even notice that. who made this <_<

They picked Adam Oates over Cam Neely, this is like a crime! Also I agree, Foppa, way lower. Also I like where Modano is, it's respective, and I personally think he is over rated a little. I also think Yzerman should be atleast in the top 20.

I know I am gunna get bugged for this but I think Terry Sawchuck should be higher then where he is. He did unreal things when he played, considering that he is beating most modern goalies in SV% and his pads were 1/4 of the size. He does not get the credit he dererves.

Im suprised you didn't go on a rant on why sundin should be in the top 10. I do however think Sundin should be there before Kariya.

i know! kariya isn;t that great. and johnny bouer should be way higher than he is!

Niewy was great back on the flames. When they were together and won their only cup together Newy got the MVP and not Modano. Newy is alot older and isn't as good now, but in there prime (and I barely got to see Newy's) Newy was the better player in my opinion.

I would like to Sundin on that list, and thought Salming and Sittler were a little under-rated from what I heard, but that could definately be my leaf Bias. I know I'll upset alot of people when I say this, but I feel Yzerman is and has been one of the most overrated players in the league for a while. He was good in his prime, but I never found him as their horse, he was someone looked upon for leadership and was a tremendous player, but I don't know if he could go really high. He was a great leader and a great player, but I never felt he could dominate a game, I thought Federov was better in the early-mid 90's, and in the late 90's he had a fair bit of help down the middle. Now he's in a reduced role. Maybe it's because I'm fairly young compared to some of the guys who saw him come up through the ranks, but this is just what I've gathered from seeing him play.

That MVP shoulda been Belfour's. Right when Joe was announced as winning it, you could hear him yell something like "This shoulda been yours, Eddie!" I have it on tape somewhere.

I never saw Newy in his days with the Flames. From the time that he spent in Dallas his and Modano's offensive talents are about the same but Mo is a lot more responsible on his own end of the rink.

Absolutely... it's very obvious that you never saw Yzerman play through the 80s. He singlehandedly carried detroit into the playoffs every year. He was more dominant than Fedorov was through the 90s. Fedorov had MUCH more support than Yzerman did. Yzerman was the entire team, no doubt about it. The only reason he didn't get as much recognition was because Gretzky was in his prime at that time.. he was always overshadowed by him.

I wish you could have seen it...

Kovalev is not in the top 100 players ever, end of story. He had two great seasons with pittsburgh, thats it.

If it was the 100 most idiotic players with the puck, then Alex would be number 1 if that makes you happy.

Jagr is class in the top 30 ever and ask to Kovalev teamates in the time with Pittsburgh, they all say Kovy has more skills than Jagr. Anyway it's not anyone who can see skills. But I agree with Theo, Kovalev has never do what he could have do. A lot of players with less skills than him have had better carreer than him.

Will you get off the whole skills thing? It's not only skills. And like Theo said there's no comparison between Jagr's achivements and Kovy's achievements. Just because Kovy's teammates say he has more skills than Jagr , which is really more of a personal opinion, doesn't necessarily mean he does. But when all the factors are included, they don't compare. There's no way Kovy could get on that list while Cam Neely's off.

I would rather have Neely than Ciccarelli on that list but I'm surprised people aren't ranting "who the f*** is Dickie Moore?!?!?!" and the like.

I also don't see why Sundin isn't on the list compared to some of the guys but at least Niedermayer's on the list. It's just too hard to argue some of those picks, except for how low they have Yzerman.

I think its a lot more accurate than the Hockey news top 100 where players from the 1920's were rated higher than Forsberg and the like. My personal choice is Mario overall. His goals per game ratio will never be touched. If he was on Edmonton for 10 years with that cast of characters there may have been a 300 point season.

That is why I referenced the supporting cast. Mario had a bunch of nobody's for quite a while. The Edmonton teams, particularly in 85, were the strongest teams from top to bottom in the history of the game. They were both players on a different level, but mario in the first half of his career used to toy with defenseman at will and score or make the perfect pass. Its one of those arguments that will go on forever, but for my money, Mario was best. If we talk to our people over 50, Orr blew them both away.
