SR27 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2006 There was one in that series with I think Konowalchuk and another guy at a diner and they were putting their right arms on the table and everytime the waitress wanted to serve something they swept their arms like it was a faceoff and cleared the table ;-)

hockeymom 2 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 anyone remember the old fedex commercials with the stanley cup?? That was a great ad - I have a copy of it somewhere. And a reel of most hockey related ads...must try to dig them up, there's a few that people have mentioned here on it. I used to teach an advertising strategy class and have students segment the different "hockey audiences" and figure out what motivates them. Used to have them lurk on MSH for homework! Then we'd review the ads and critique them. We'd also do fashion, mack!

Chadd 916 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 The ones with the Sun Tzu quotes, maybe?Yeah....those suck. Only the NHL could make Sun Tzu seem cheesy. I need to get a new copy of the art of war at some point I lost my old one a long time ago.

shnuggs 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2006 The NHL shoulda done something along the lines of those Nike commercials. There ad campaign for this year was terrible-- absolutely horrible commercials.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted June 27, 2006 The NHL shoulda done something along the lines of those Nike commercials. There ad campaign for this year was terrible-- absolutely horrible commercials. Nothing like marketing your sport by using actors. Every other sport in the world markets players, except the NHL. The original ESPN-NHL commercials were fantastic and really fit the network at the time.
shnuggs 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2006 Ya-- even in the playoffs when they finally decided to use the players it was done to awkwardly-- Brindamour breaking a stick over his leg--- Lidstrom skating and stopping 10 feet away and awkwardly by the camera-- doberman pincher dogs barking-- absolutely terrible. After the first - second time seeing it i had to switch the channel when it came on --it was sooo bad. I dont know what company they used to come up with the marketing theme - but it was bad.Hope they go in a different direction next year-- something easy going funny and corky-- like that french canadian goaltender/taxi driver. Great Stuff.

Nothing like marketing your sport by using actors. Every other sport in the world markets players, except the NHL. The original ESPN-NHL commercials were fantastic and really fit the network at the time. The ones that had the members of the ESPN crew in them too? I'm partial to the one where they're picking teams for street hockey. "No, I don't want Clemente. Clemente, Clemente, hands of cement".

kosydar 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2006 It could have been. I remember it had Clemente, Englom, Thorne, Melrose, and Espo. I just assumed it was for the NHL on ESPN. Its been a few years though, you're probably right.
