I'm getting a new helmet this week(RBK 8K) and haven't yet decided between cage or a visor(Oakley Straight Small). The cage options I'm taking a look at are the Itech 908 RBE VIII in Silver or the Bauer 4000/8000 in the Tru-Vision of course. I've only used Bauer cages, but the ones I have used the bars were always in front of my eyes and it was such a pain in the ass. I haven't been able to compare it to any other type of cage, I was going to try my brothers CCM 480 but it was too small, but then I chose these because I don't want black, white or chrome and think I'd much prefer the matte silver color of these few masks. I just wonder between them, which has the better vision, Flat or the Round shape and you guy's thoughts on either, positioning of the bars and such.

I have an Itech 908 RBE VIII I2 cage and it feels more bubble like than straight. I like it because it moves the cage away from my face. The I2 paint scheme is a lot less distracting than silver, in my opinion.

Seems like a very popular choice, I'll definatly have to check it out. I think I may just go with a Chrome Jofa 480, price definatly isn't bad either. Now I just need to decide if I want to get the cage or the visor, but in the end either choice will be better than my rusted ass Bauer 3000 I have right now. If anybody else has anything to say about it do share!

If you're digging for suggestions, I'd suggest playing without a cage. I've been doing that ever since I was 18, and it's the funnest hockey ever. All the joys of shinny with all the joys of competetive hockey.

I just started wearing a cage as the men's league I joined requires them. Itech Titanium

The first night I wore I was going nuts and switched back to my helmet/visor combo. Sure enough, the first shift with my old helmet, another guy and I hit head on and I chipped a tooth on his cage. Just when I thought I was done seeing my dentist for more than regular check ups. I still am not completely adjusted to the cage either.

Don't be a puss, get the visor.

Wearing a cage instead of a visor isn't about being a "puss." No one should ever be chided for opting for full face protection. Grow up.

I agree, we dont get paid $$$$ for people to see our faces. Besides, theres nothing like going down in front of a puck without having to worry about getting hit in the mouth or face. You dont see football players without face masks and hockey is way tuffer than football.

6 ft 3 in is good enough for me.

i see... by the way, dont mean to hijack, but you know the itech w/ white on the inside and black on the outside? see here: http://www.inlinewarehouse.com/descpage.html?pcode=908I2

that is so sick, but i hate the shape! i like jofa much better, is there a jofa cage like this? thanks!

I dont really see what's wrong with the shape of the Itech...that particular one seems to be a little less boxy than other Itechs.

And btw, I've been told this many of times, don't let the I2 paint scheme trick you. It's a gimmick...in reality it's just a white cage, the black on the outside is so it looks cool.

Growing up has nothing to do with height. It has to do with maturity and respect.

No, the black on the outside is to absorb light rather than reflect it in order to reduce glare. I found the I2 colour scheme made a big difference over plain white or plain black cages.

my brother has the white/ black itech cage, and its by far the ugliest cage i ever seen, its like a bubble, online it might seem nice but on a helmet my goodness, its ugly, i would go with the jofa cage, by far the best ive used and its looks pretty good on my 8K, but if you want a jofa cage, with the white/ black stuff, make it yourself it cant be too too hard.
