If theres a Pro Inline Hockey league which i doubt where will be, ill definitely pull all the stops to get there.

I wanted to be a hockey equipment designer since I was 16 or a footwear designer and I've been designing for RBK-CCM for 1 month now! :D

Nope, I never designed a glove for MIA or Eagle that's out on the market, it's mostly all work in progress or graphic design. So don't expect me to replicate that style of glove for an other company.

be a recording engineer and own a couple recording studios ---> im pretty close

i have a recording studio...it's a nightmare :lol:

i worked in a guitar shop and my coworker and i both did some home recording, so we decided to rent out the space next door to to the shop, which was previously used for post-production sound editing in porn movies, so it was pretty well sound-proofed. ie, we could turn a marshall up to 10 at 3:00AM and nobody could tell unless you were within a couple feet of the door. so that was cool.

unfortunately, we had to get somebody else to share the space for monetary reasons - enter the drunken band of 40-somethings, who managed to lock themselves in, and ended up kicking down a door, ruining how sound-deadening the room was - on two separate occasions. they'd always smoke inside, leave the place trashed, etc...so they got the boot.

then, the drunken guitarist of the band started teaching lessons through the music shop at our studio, and porking some of his younger student's moms (no joke). he also did a lot of coke, which i didn't particularly want in my place. we got some money for this from our boss at the music shop, but not much.

my boss at the music shop had a cancer scare and basically become a huge prick. so my partner/coworker quit the music shop to go back to "the dark side" (aka guitar center), and my boss hired his stoner son who doesn't know anything about guitar, and isn't very good at customer service. cool kid...but not good for that shop. and had another friend of his get involved in the studio. so now that the band was gone, there were us three partners...equal rent, and we could do whatever we wanted pretty much. i'd get trashed and sleep there occasionally, or have sessions go until 5AM, then have to be back there at 9AM to start over. this was the best time in the history of the studio (hah).

as the music shop went downhill, i quit also. gave my boss over a month's notice...yet he's still bitter at me for some reason. kind of awkward going in to work at the studio and seeing him all the time. it was great while i worked there, but shitty after i quit.

also, i should mention that my partner is a good guy but he can be a bit of a stubborn douchebag. ie, denying up and a down that there was any possibility of him wiring the patchbay wrong...when it clearly doesn't work. either that or we have studio gremlins. anything that goes wrong gets blamed on my friend, who usually produces when i'm in there. whatevs.

then my original partner decided he couldn't afford to pay rent for a while. at this point, i had just moved out and couldn't afford to cover for him, or even go back to splitting it 2 ways (between me and the new guy)...the new guy is pretty well off (high up position at guitar center) and offered to take over rent, and put lots of new gear into the studio, and we pay him half of what we make, our collective total going up to the monthly amount of what he pays. anything above that is split between the 3 of us. sounds like a good deal...and it was very cool of him to do that. he's a great guy...but i kind of felt like it became "his" studio at that point. ie, there's been times we were in a session and he came in and basically kicked us out for his session.

i haven't been in my studio in months, and i haven't talked to either of those guys in quite a while either. i heard the main guy is mad i haven't been in there making any money...but i have 3 other jobs and school. i used to love recording, and it was awesome having a place to go and mess around. i thought it would be a career for me. now it's probably slightly more fun than delivering pizza, but less fun than working at a LHS. and booking tours kick's the most ass. i'm contemplating selling my gear.

so be weary of your dream job :D

their is a pro roller hockey league. my sisters boyfriend and all of his friends all play in it. and dream job. bein the best hockey player ever dude.

just curious what kinda guitar do you have?

hamer USA special with P-90's.

it's like a double cut away Les Paul, but without Gibson's crappy quality control. they're cheap too...mine's an early 90's one that i got for about $400.

that was a band i recorded though - i wasn't playing...

If you're saying that those would be bad jobs, i disagree. Those would be fun jobs, probably pays pretty good aswell.

I'm not saying broadway dancing would be my cup of tea, but I don't know if he's being serious about it, or trying to make a joke. I don't know a lot of hockey dudes who are heavy into dancing like that.

definitely a nightmare for you. as for me, its one of the best options i have since my degree is mostly about recording, and other aspects of music. im currently doing my on job training and will be recording orchestras and the like.

what kind of programs do you use in your studio? pro tools, with digi-001? 002?

the samples were cool? did you do all the mixing?

yeah, we're running pro-tools. that was done on a digi 002, but last i heard we had a HD3 rig with apogee A/D converters on the way...it might be there by now, but like i said, i haven't been in there in a while.

there's definitely some plugins on there but i can't remember what cause it was so long ago. that was actually my first paid project, and first project at that studio IIRC. didn't have much outboard gear back then so i had to use the plugins. only one i definitely remember was melodyne on the vocals. i really want to get waves tune - saw that demo'd at NAMM and was absolutely amazed.

i did mix it all...and i had to "psuedo-master" it ie 2-bus compression, cause the band had broken up and didn't want to shell out to send it off someplace for a decent job. maybe its my crappy laptop speakers or maybe my ears have changed but it doesn't sound as good as i remember it sounding :[

btw - a friend of mine who usually produces stuff i engineer has done a bit of classical recording. i think he's looking to get into that more cause it seems like every rock band has a studio or a friend who has a studio in the garage, so nobody wants to pay much if they can have their friend do it for less...even if it sounds way worse. so i guess i'm saying it's probably good you're doing orchestral stuff, cause i think it'd be pretty hard to pay the bills with rock.
