tsiarls79 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2006 definitely a nightmare for you. as for me, its one of the best options i have since my degree is mostly about recording, and other aspects of music. im currently doing my on job training and will be recording orchestras and the like.what kind of programs do you use in your studio? pro tools, with digi-001? 002? the samples were cool? did you do all the mixing?yeah, we're running pro-tools. that was done on a digi 002, but last i heard we had a HD3 rig with apogee A/D converters on the way...it might be there by now, but like i said, i haven't been in there in a while. there's definitely some plugins on there but i can't remember what cause it was so long ago. that was actually my first paid project, and first project at that studio IIRC. didn't have much outboard gear back then so i had to use the plugins. only one i definitely remember was melodyne on the vocals. i really want to get waves tune - saw that demo'd at NAMM and was absolutely amazed.i did mix it all...and i had to "psuedo-master" it ie 2-bus compression, cause the band had broken up and didn't want to shell out to send it off someplace for a decent job. maybe its my crappy laptop speakers or maybe my ears have changed but it doesn't sound as good as i remember it sounding :[btw - a friend of mine who usually produces stuff i engineer has done a bit of classical recording. i think he's looking to get into that more cause it seems like every rock band has a studio or a friend who has a studio in the garage, so nobody wants to pay much if they can have their friend do it for less...even if it sounds way worse. so i guess i'm saying it's probably good you're doing orchestral stuff, cause i think it'd be pretty hard to pay the bills with rock. www.myspace.com/victoriastreetstudios has a gear list i think. cool, i use digi 002 in school as well, im not pretty sure about what plugins are installed now i cant remember which ones i've used before. im still in the process of learning how to master but the speakers we use may be good for it.yeah orchestral and other live recording subjects demand i bit more of perfectionism since you only get one take. and yeah a lot of small time studios are starting to pop out here in manila. Trippingblue 1 Report post Posted June 2, 2006 Lighting tech and Rigger for Cirque du Soleil's touring showsArtist in a Cirque du Soleil showLighting/Costume/Set/Rigging Designer for Cirque du Soleil or Franco DragoneArtistic Director of Creation, SF Shakespeare FestivalProfessional Broadway dancer--nick-- Are you being serious? If you're saying that those would be bad jobs, i disagree. Those would be fun jobs, probably pays pretty good aswell. I'm not saying broadway dancing would be my cup of tea, but I don't know if he's being serious about it, or trying to make a joke. I don't know a lot of hockey dudes who are heavy into dancing like that. I'm definitely being serious. I guess my life doesn't completely revolve around hockey. It's more of a hobby than anything. I've spent most of my professional career in the entertainment field in one way or another, either as a director, performer, tech or designer. Does that necessarily mean that I can't be into hockey? Certainly not. I'm just your average everyday sports-loving, meat-eating, hard-drinking, truck-driving, red-blooded f-a-g. --nick--

gavin 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2006 I would like to teach at the Graduate level. It's so neat, I just finished 3 weeks of intense block classes and some of the students are my buddies from college, it's very stimulating. The teachers sure seem like they love what they do. Plus usually at most grad schools you're on the campus of a college which gives you all those perks.

Should my knee give-out or cause more problems than it already is, I'll be attending the University at Buffalo in the Fall as an English major working on a Journalism certification (I'd love to be a sports journalist)

Chadd 916 Report post Posted June 5, 2006 I don't know that there is any one thing that I have always dreamed of doing. I've always had really diverse interests and never one life-long ambition. The one gig that would be cool to me would be a team play by play announcer. I've checked in to getting a gig in a small minor-league market a couple times but I can't really afford to take that kind of hit financially.

sabre09923 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I dream to be he weird mathematician who finds the next prime number. Or the guy who finds the 1,000,000,000,000,000th digit of Pi. Just kidding guys.No I want to be an architect, or a biochemist. Fooling around with chemicals on a molecular scale to help make differences in health sounds like my kind of thing. But, whatever job I get, I'm still going to play hockey. Hockey=life for me, at least right now.
