Whats the deal with NFL players and motorcycle accidents. First Kellen Winslow, now Big Ben and he wasn't even wearing a helmet. That's very unfortunate, but that helmet would have prevented a lot of his injuries. I bet he'll be wearing one now.

I'm not sure if there is anything in his contract specifically about wearing a helmet but I do know he was warned by the team before all this happened about doing so...In some contracts there are clauses the teams put in that dont allow players to ride motocycles during a season and so on....Bikes are exciting and all but unless your cruising a strip somewhere it just plain makes no sense to not wear a helmet...An old biker saying goes, "there are two types of riders, those that have fallen and those who will" Gotta be smarter big Ben....

I've heard conflicting rumors; Sportnet reported he had 'severe' injuries to both knees, but I read online that AP is reporting he has no siginificant injuries other than to his head and face.

And there probably is that clause in his contract. Otherwise, I don't think his contract is guaranteed anyway, so if he can't play anymore, he won't get paid.

Anyone happen to see the car windshield his face planted into?...It looked like a bowling ball got dropped on it....I feel bad for the guy I really do, but at the same time its hard to feel sorry for someone who was that stupid in the first place...Even if the accident wasent his fault, Im pretty sure a helmet would have saved him from his most serious injuries...

He has clause in his contract saying he can only ride a bike in the off-season. He says he only rides Harley's and Choppers but he was riding the fastest street legal bike made...cant remember the name. pretty stupid to not wear a helmet since he's got A LOT going for him but i guess he doesnt realize that. He came pretty close to dieing today so hopefully he will realize whats important and wear a helmet next time.

He'll look like a hockey player now witha crooked nose and missing teeth.

Oh, they showed his girlfriend walking into the hospital..wow.

I live in pittsburgh and my dad is the head of security at his work. He got the privelage of escourting him around. My dad said hes really nice its just when people ask him for autographs he gets grumpy. Just to let u know.

On a serious note, that was the headline in the local paper here yesterday. "Farmington woman Steelers champ, collide in Pittsburgh."

According to the article she spends her summers here in Maine, but lives in Pittsburgh.
