Most Under-rated players?

Im mentioning players from montreal but that's because i watch them pretty often. It's the only way you can notice quiet contibutors:

Mathieu Garon, Steve Begin and Jim Dowd stands out in my mind. Ryder is doing great as well.

Sounds weird but how about Milan Hejduk. According to NHL fans and coaches he is not all start material!

Amen to that, league leading goal scorer, but not even on the all star team. but unfortunately for him, when he's hot, he's hot and when he's not, he's Anson Carter.

Marty Havlat. I know hes a little bastard, but he can be very productive at times. I dont think he gets the credit he deserves for the way he plays. He has scored 29 goals very quietly this season, despite missing time due to contract disputes, suspension, ect.

I'd have to say Bonk or Todd White. I think since the two were injured the Sens have lost a bit of the experience they normally bring. It's not so much the wins, but the late-game leads and losses these guys might otherwise have prevented or impeded.

Nick Boynton. He's solid in his own end and can chip in every once in a while in the offense. He's only 25 and he's got some of his best years ahead of him. It was great to see him go to his first all-star game. It's always nice to see another diabetic homeboy achieve something like that.

What about Jonathon Cheechoo? He's got 27 goals on pace for 29. I don't think he get's as much attention as he should.

I don't get how people can say St. Louis is underrated. Hes going to win the Art Ross for sure this year, plus every hockey show seems to mention him at least once or twice. Tomas Holmstrom is way underrated, but he just got re-signed to a 3 year deal with the Wings, so I'm happy.

st. louis has can be callled underrated because he has slipped underneath the radar for so long. we he was playing for calgary no one gave a crap about the guy. he wasn't ever drafted. just the sure fact that he's so small and makes such a huge impact on his team makes him underrated to me. when someone names powerhouse players, he's usually not one of the first named. that's my twisted way of seeing it.

I think that can be said for a few players at the top of the NHL scoring race. I'm sure if everyone listed the top 5 players in the NHL everyone list would vary quiet a bit, especially compared to the late '80's early '90s. It seems that their is a consistancy among top NHL players where every "superstar" can be as good as the other.

I still don't think that makes him underrated. Maybe I'm just looking at it strictly from a popularity standpoint, but underrated players aren't starters in the All Star game IMO.

Kris Draper, Tomas Holmstrom, both these guys are awesome but dont get alot of credit, Draper got alot more this year, think he should get something this year, like a selke trophy, hes amazing on the pk, and great even strength

Dick Tarnstrom. Tons of PP Points, 4th or 5th for points in defensemen for the league. He is a leader on the Pens. His +/- sucks, but so does every other Penguins.

Patrik Elias is very underrated and he is one of the most talented players in the NHL.

No he isn't, hes just your favorite player so you think hes underrated.
