Luongo for Bertuzzi

Recommended Posts

I'm not surprised, this one has been kicked around for a long time, with varying levels of seriousness. All I have to say is...damn, it sure is bittersweet :(

Good deal for the Canucks imo. Luongo gets the Vezina next year I'm predicting. Sucks for Bert though, at least he's not going to Colorado. ;)

Great deal for both teams. Glad to see Auld and Allen gone as well, and Canucks pick up a d-man and a draft pick. This solves the Canucks tendy problems and any "issues" the team has had with Bert.

Canucks for the 07 Cup!

Man, Florida got the short end of that stick.

Maybe it's personal, but Bertuzzi doesn't offer nearly as much to a club as Luongo, no matter the condition of the organization.

WOW!!!!!

Great deal for both teams.

Flordia gets ride of Luongo adds IMO a starting goalie, a solid dman and Bertuzzi. IF Bertuzzi can come around, a big if the Panthers are a legitimate Cup contender. They have a great young core and I could see them taking the Southeast, although it will be very tight.

The Canucks get Luongo a goalie with tons of international expierence but no playoff expierence. This deal shows Nonis has the balls to pull off a major deal, something even Brian Burke did not. This move completly shakes the Canucks core and they move out a major dressing room cancer. They loose Auld who can be replaced by Cloutier or my guess Wade Flaharaty. He'll be eligble because they're changing the 75k and over AHL callup rule. Originally I was suprised they parted with Allen but then I remember Bourdon. I see Bourdon easily sliding into the top 4 ala Phaneuff. I beleive Bourdon is almost as good as Phaneuff and I see him playing 18-20 mins a game.

I now see the Nucks trading Cloutier possibly for some dmen depth or a 2nd line type scorer.

Guys don't forget Krajicek hes an amazing skater, and I beleive has #2 man dman potential. I think he'll definitly be overlooked in the deal but give him a year or two then watch out.

and lastly

What does this mean for Ed Jovanovski? Heavily rumoured to go to Florida for personal reasons. I strongly doubt he wants to go right back into the same dressing room of exteamate Todd Bertuzzi. I strongly wonder if Nonis sneaked in this hidden part into the deal. The only place Jovo has been rumoured to go is Florida, now that he sees that Nonis is serious about building a winner I wouldn't been suprised to see him remain in Vancouver. Now if the Canucks can get some scoring help to replace Bertuzzi watch out!!

Seems like a good trade for both sides. On the Vancouver side Bryan Allen finally started to live up to expectations, but it's tough to respect a guy that looks like a 12 year old kid.

thats why they picked up brandon reid ^_^ , though he's probably gonna be stuffed in the third line....i'd pick him over morrison though. maybe we could get rid of cloutier for some more scoring punch

Florida F^%ed up big time. They could have gotten MUCH better players than Bert and Auld. Bert will not recover his old form and Auld is not a long term starter. Keenan was a fluke. Rode his Cup rep WAY too long. Get rid of him too. Florida will not reach playoffs anytime soon.

Why does Keenan have a boner for Bertuzzi?

he likes his players big and tough.

plus, he's the one that pulled the trigger for him in the first place. Trevor Linden for McCabe and Bertuzzi.

just if the leafs could pick up some players now...theres no way theyre gonna bounce back without a big name goalie and a guy who's gonna put some points up on the board...

I understand getting something for him before he leaves a year from now but they pulled the trigger way too early, it's not like his value will decrease when teams give up on who they have. Hell, there were better deals on the table as it was, especially that LA package. Why add one player to the first line when you can add two? Why add a 71 point guy when you can add an 87 point guy? Don't mention Datsyuk's playoff struggles either, Florida will be lucky to get there now. Makes no sense to me, unless the rumors were bullshit. Also, I had Florida possibly making a Stanley Cup run. Yeah, they screwed up bad and are now just another team that won't go anywhere because of who is in net.

Florida got a great set of players. Sure, Auldy's a bit of a downgrade from Luongo, but he will suffice. Bert is still a great hockey player and he should contribute more than he did last season- hopefully. And Bryan Allen developed well in his time with the Nucks, kinda disappointed to see a younger D-man leave.

On the flip side, Luongo needs to be signed (I believe he is an RFA). I have to believe they will do it, but if they blow it with him, I will be making a trip to Vancouver to join in dragging Nonis through the streets.

This was definitely an good trade for both teams, but very risky. Although Auld does not have as much experience as Loungo being a no.1 goalie, he does have a good amount of experience and he did win 33 games for Vancouver and was pretty consistent. It's sad to see Allen leave, Vancouver does hae alot of young Dmen in the system with the likes of Brown, Bieksa and highly touted Luc Bourdon who has recently signed his first pro contract with Vancouver. Unfortunately Loungo is a UFA at the end of next season and if he decides not to stay or we are unable to resign him, I'm sure there are alot of teams whowill be willing to trade top players for him. Now all we need to do is trade Cloutier for a top prospect or a reliable 2nd line scorer, and replace Bertuzzi with Jason Arnott who is a UFA then the Canucks will be set :D
