Better Skates

Recommended Posts

buy the skate that fits, and then have it ground to the specs that the runners of your tblades are. (hollow, profile ect.) You could prolly even take your skates with the tblades in with the new ones and tell them to match your new skates to the old ones.

and i wouldn't want to be punching holes in the bottom of a pair of 1500's to put tblades on it. You dont know how the carbon material is going to handle that.

Well I won't be doing the putting on of the t-blades, my LHS will do that...

what do you mean the pitch and everything,

Why will it be throwing it off and such?

And if they miss drill then I will tell them to get me new skates

I really like my t-blades and would like to stick with them,

since they are much sharper and you can carve better and all,

B)

If you have to ask these questions, I seriously doubt that you would be getting the full advantages out of each, insanely expensive skate...

my guess is that you are a beginner.. maybe in your first or 2nd year of hockey?

Stick with something in your level, instead of trying to impress everybody at the rink.. trust me, we have all seen people like you.. the ones who have on top end gear and cant skate for beans.. you look like an idiot wearing top end gear.

LOL acually I play AAA, and hopefully getting drafted,

Just b/c I don't know what the pitch is and all that doesn't make me a bad player,

I get my LHS to do the work on my skates

And for the $ part I get them super cheap I could probably buy 3 paris for the cost of one don't ask me how,

Bud none of us know you and are gonna think you're cooler because you play AAA. Any AAA hockey player who's "going to get drafted" knows the basics of hockey equipment, which is fit first. It is a FACT that the two skates fit completely differently so go try them on in fact dont limit yourself too just those two. For the record what league are you going tp get drafted big shot?

Did I ever say I was cool b/c I played AAA?

No I simply stated it...

Just b/c you maybe not have made it somewere in hockey doesn't mean other people can't

T-blades are not sharper. You just never had your regular skates sharpened to the correct hollow, or done correctly if you think t-blades are "sharper". What hollow are your tblades?

Just a suggestion. If you think you might get drafted.....find a really good trainer in the area...and see if he will watch you skate point out any shortcummings he sees. I do this for an OHL and JR team as well as my 2 regular teams. All I do is suggest a diffrent hollow and diffrent profile and I have had guys that play as far as the NHL call me every summer to see when I can tune them up. But what they do do is listen carefully and watch everything that is done so if they get a bad trainer they can sharpen there own for the time being.

Just a suggestion!

dude.. I dont know who you think you are kidding when you are trying to convince us that you play AAA.... Anybody who even went through peewee hockey should know the basics of pitch and boot sizing. I play college hockey, and we don't get anything at a "discount". I got lucky a few times and got a break from my LHS owner who tossed in a minor discount off of a clearance stick.

Im calling bs on this guys story too.. go back to the RBK forums...

*I'm calling an early prediction and saying that this is another Domileafs account. 70 posts in 3 days?

well when my dad is a personal trainer and has alot of experince in the field of hockey why do I need to worry about what cut and crap my skates are?

Do you have a reason?

I have other things to worry about other then what my blades are...

You'd think that if your dad is a trainer he'd teach you the ins and outs of your skates and why skate A works for you and skate B doesn't. He's also teach you about radius, pitch, and hollow. In other words, You'd probably go to your dad about what skates to get- not to a group of strangers online.

But hey, have your fun.

When I played in the ccha I had teammates that didn't know what it meant to "bake" a skate. I garuntee you they had no idea about the pitch or hollow of their skates. These guys were some of the best players in college hockey and some of them are in the NHL now and they had been playing hockey their entire lives. Most of those guys came from hockey families and they never had to tend to their equipment, someone else always did it for them.

People don't pay to watch AAA....and I don't know what cut my skates are and I'm in midget...I just get the LHS to do whatever the standard is, probably 3/4 or 1/2 but who knows.

I'm in bantam and that is exactly what I do when I need sharpening, I just tell them standard.

You really should go to your lhs and try on every high end skate there and than make your choice. Also I have no clue what the cut on my skate is either I just let the ppl at my lhs sharpen it and it works for me I never asked any questions and I had no clue on what pitch was intill the mission pitch holder came out and I still do not know what is the pitch of my skates or any other brand of skates lol.

Why don't any of you ask what hollow you are getting? You guys ask a million ?s about this, that, and the other thing but something as important as your hollow, your answer is "whatever?" If you take the time to read this forum, especially the Equipment forum, ask some serious ?s and get answers. This way when you make it to the Show or the Big Tent or Drop-In on Monday morning, at least the sharpener will have some idea of what you prefer and not roll his eyes and say to himself, another lunkhead without a clue! And it really doesn't matter how far you go in hockey, take the time to ask a few questions along the way. The sharpener might teach you something you didn't know.

And I have gone to my LHS and thats Royal Sports,

The RBK 9 pump felt really stupid on my feet,

and I narrowed it down to those 2

The others I didn't even really try on I don't like Graf and mission so i guess bauer and Easton are my 2 fav. companies,

My dad likes me to wear Easton,

Well one of these days you will be on your own, so you can't live off your dad for ever.
