ONEGoal November 2007 tradeshow

January 2008 is when it will become mandatory! however, metro detroit mayors, and windsor area mayors are trying to come up with a seperate form, or code on drivers license to create easy travel back and forth for local residents.

Just to let everyone know that law has been dropped. They are working on getting a smaller ID wallet card for crossing the boarder. You still need a birth certificate to get into the US.

The issue has always been getting into or back to the US, no issue going to Canada.

HA not me!

Tried crossing the border without my birth cert and got stuck in immigration for 30-40min.....

Then I was slightly harassed about my hockey stick bag, to them it looked like a rifle bag I guess.

At least Toronto and Vegas don't overlap this year. It's hard for small companies to get to both shows. We're doing a booth in Vegas and just walking the floor in Toronto.

But I just heard that NARCh Winternationals (roller hockey in case you don't know) are same time as or overlap the Toronto show.

I've had the show timing explained to me by a major rep. Basically the whole make, sell and deliver thing has gotten completely out of sinc. Often stores can't afford to pay for the goods they bought until the goods are already being replaced by new merch. Too many products with too much of it carried and too much close out. I probably explained that wrong and made it unintelligable!

He summed it up as totally screwed. And sort of unstopable. Profits get flushed.

A lot of people feel that way and it isn't going to get better any time soon.

Just some info for all those people concerned with being able to cross the border, I work at the border and all you need to cross is proof of citizenship, that means a birth certificate and photo i.d. or a passport. You will not be required to carry a passport until January 2008 at all land border crossings and January 2007 for airport crossings any other information you have reacieved or heard is false.

lets hope they decide to close the detroit show to the public. last thing the dealers or manufacturers need!!!

They have to make it look busy somehow. With the split shows it is like a ghost town compared to just a few years ago.

I thnk we lost the thread about the rumor of the One Goal Show not happening in Detroit. In any event, I received the following email [excerpted] on Wednesday:

"April 2007

For Immediate Release

ONEGOAL HOCKEY SHOW Committed to November Dates, Becomes True Kick Off Show

Proceeds Support the OneGoal Initiative Dedicated to Growing the Game of Hockey

Montreal - Organizers of the ONEGOAL Hockey Show have confirmed the dates of its upcoming show to be November 9 - 11, at the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan."

Yeah, we did.

And like you said, it is indeed on. Ugh.

What I find interesting on the site is who is going - only mfgrs that have committed are MIH, Sher-Wood and DR. NBH won't be there for sure, not sure about anyone else.

RBK rep told me yesterday they will not be in Detroit. We talked about "the good old days" and decided the show should be back in Montreal at the Bonaventure. The hall is the right size for the size of the industry right now. This thinking of putting the hockey trade show in an airplane hangar the last two years is stupid. When there were tons of dealers and the vendors were pumped, the Montreal show was very well run. Now, with far less dealers and the vendors yawning for two and a half days in their over-sized booths(more like mini-warehouses), the show is out of proportion to the industry. Oh well, that's why they call'em "the good old days."

Canadiens dont want to travel to usa and american dealers dont want to travel north.

Each country should have their own show.

RBK/CCM NBH and easton none are attending detroit

According to the email today, the consumer portion is back on but not in the show. Evidently they want to have one space for dealers and one for consumers at the same time. This gets worse every step of the way.

Why not the International center in Toronto? Actually I believe it's in Brampton.

Right across from the airport. Isn't the OMHA the largest minor hockey group in the world?

Don't they want to appeal to grassroots hockey?

1. There was a show in Toronto last year and the idea was to move it around every year. It was at the convention center, next to the CN tower and the train station.

2. There will still be a show in Toronto, but it probably won't be open to the public.

3. The idea of opening it to the public was just a way to attract more bodies and make it look busier. Last year looked like a ghost town.

4. Michigan has a large number of hockey players, it's not like they're doing this in New Mexico.

Guys, we think you might be interested to know that we’ll to be videotaping interviews at the One Goal Show and posting them on our website. We’ll try to interview the different manufacturers about their new products, JR and Chadd about MSH’s impact on the industry, as well as any ex-players who show up at the show.

Also, on Sunday, I’ll be conducting interviews of some of hockey’s greatest players at the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Legends Game, so Chadd and Jason Harris have agreed to show off their voices by helping with the interviews on the last day of the show. Maybe JR can join them if he has time?

We will also be on the RED CARPET Monday for the Induction of Mark Messier, Scott Stevens, Al McInnis and Ron Francis. Check out the video section for exclusive coverage from the event! This is an exciting time for 29 Sports and hopefully you will enjoy the new features!

i'm goin, first equipment thing i've ever been to. Are you typically allowed to take pictures of the gear like that? I can't imagine that's allowed, or even really "professional" or polite.

There are more people taking pics and video every year. It's actually pretty annoying.
