what's your car?

but with the Z, you get the mystique, i mean, who wouldn't want a car called the Z? a mysterious name is all a part of the allure

2004 G35 AWD (sedan). Nice car, I would prefer the coupe though. My parents would rather me have an all wheel drive car then a rear for my first car, with our winters here (jersey is just crazy). If i put a $2k turbo in it, I can be pushing out 380 hp, to the wheels, and ill be a vette killer :). Boxters start at 40k, and are stripped down for the price, plus they are SLOW.

AWD cars don't translate into better winter cars. They're meant to keep the wheels in contact with the ground. 4WD cars are meant for the weather conditions. And you're obviously not talking about a Vette Z06 with your statement.

I can tell youve never driven a boxter. They might not be the fastest cars, but they're fun as hell to drive. There's a lot of fast cars out there, but very few that are fun to drive. People should really drive more cars before judging them.

you might want to think twice before you drop a monster turbo. i'm not too familiar with awds and such, but do you know if your car can handle all that extra power? a G35x has 260.. at the flywheel? that's like.. 230 at the wheels. another 150, id unno. i agree with legodoom, it really does depend on car's "fun" factor, chat are good on paper might lack intangibles that make them great cars

Vapor what color is your G35? I considered it along with the 325xi before finally settling on the A4 1.8t. The G is definately one of the best cars out for the money, especially the coupe.

First of all to lego... it is not full time awd, its rear wheel, and what they call "intelligent awd" when it senses wheel spinning, it sends power to all wheels. I am talking about a standard c5 vette. Naturally, they would burn me... they are v8 monsters, and are naturally aspirating. I was kidding about putting a turbo in, plus the vette would beat me because i have to wait for the turbo to spool up. And yes, I have been in a boxter before, and I have been in a vette (and a viper :)). I love the vette, and the viper is just a f'n animal, the boxter looks pretty, but 40,000 for a 4 banger?

Cavs: I have a black g35. I believe it is the best in its class (vs the bmw 330i, cadillac cts, A4, passat, etc). I dont like the way the g35 looks in white or silver though. I believe she looks best in black.

The boxter has a 6 cylinder engine. And I didn't say you need to ride in a car, I said you need to drive one. There's a big difference.

I thought they had a v4 version. I know porsche makes a v4, maybe its the natrually aspirating carrera thats like 30k

Porsche doesn't make a v4. The carrera uses an inline 6.

And the 911 starts at more than double that.

that true, i don't think any carmarker has a v4, but someone that used to go to my school bought an older porsche that either had a v4 or an inline 4. its not the same styling as the carreras or boxsters, but it was definately a porsche and it was definately a 4 banger

The only 4 cylinder I can recall was the 914 and 914s aren't real Porsches. They were built in the VW factory and they threw a Porsches badge on it. In fact, the Porsche club of America was sued at one point because they wouldn't let 914 owners in.

The old 356, 912, and 914 definitely had 4 cylinder engines. And maybe even the 944. With the exception of the 944, none of those cars have been made in 30 years.

Porsche has never been a big engine/hp manufacturer. In fact, back when the 550 came out, they were killing other cars in races that were a class or two above what the car was in. It doesn't mean they're not fast or fun to drive, it just means that they don't go quite as fast in a straight line as other cars. IMO, drag racing isn't real racing. You should be able to throw the car around the curves without over-torqing the engine.

If you look at the Lotus Elite, it was fast as anything around a track (and nice to look at too) but would get killed by almost anything in low end acceleration (even back in its production days). A great track car though and real fun to drive.

If you want the best of both worlds.... get an M3.

Lotus Elise's are great cars! A guy my dad works with has one with an s2000 engine in it. Its so damn fun to be in, i couldn't imagine what it would be like to drive

It sucks that you cant drive them legally on the street.

I was actually looking into Elise's they are so fast because they weigh about 12 pounds, nice cars

They don't have a high top end speed and they don't drive well on the streets. So, if you plan on using it as a street car or on tracks that have longer straights, then you might want to save your money. Great car though.

getting one depends heavily on what you're gonna use it for. the elise has virtually no luggage and barely enough space for 2 people, i think the us spec version just got a radio and air conditioning and this car is tiny. also, they are only fast in the lower (relatively) end, so they're not really cruisers
