Whats the hardest you've ever been hit?

Recommended Posts

Ok, we were scrimming to get lines right. I was playing right d and was on the point waiting for a pass up to get a play going (im one of the d on the powerplay line). My center gets in a little bind and we want to spread them out a little bit so he dumps it back to me. I look up and see nobody around and set up for a quick tap pass to my left d and BANG.

I was about to get the puck and I was smeared. I got hit into the boards from their forward coming out of the box. Not just that, but the biggest guy on our team. He is 6'5"ish, but weighs in at 308. I was about 4 feet away from the boards and I guess he hit me so hard that he lifted me all the way to the boards.

Now the damage..

To the rink: nice blood slatters close to the blue line and the glass came off the bracket holding them upright. It didn't fall off but if you played with it a little bit, it would fall. The other bracket was the only thing holding it up.

To Me: My helmet came off when he hit me and my cage caught my nose. I have some deep lacerations on the bottom from where it teared my flesh. No stitches, just a butterfly on the tip of my nose. I have sore ribs and somehow I pulled a muscle in my arm. I completely blacked out from the hit. I dont remember the hit but I do remember my face on the ice and blacking out. I have a few cuts on my face too (just ice burn).

The guy I guess came fast out of the box and took a couple extra strides before he hit me. Coach isn't happy and with this guys poor past, I doubt he will make freshmen cuts anyways. I am out for at least a week, but I will try to play a little bit tuesday when we have drills... we'll see.

Anyways, this was the hardest I have ever been hit. What about you?

That guy just sounds liek teh "enforcer" type, and won't do too well playing that way with new usa hockey rules...and what an asshole to cream you like that during a team scrimmage.

I was hit once on open ice hard enough to where I momentarily blacked out, as well as one hip check from a D as I was skating the puck up and was sent into the air where I did a front flip and slammed down on my back (everyone was asking if I was hurt when I came back to the bench, as it was a huge hit, but actually I was fine...strangely, the guy who hit me had some seizure/stroke or something after the game and left in an ambulance). But yea, nothing really serious for me...

We were breaking it out of our zone and I was center swinging below the dots. The D man brought it around the net and passed it to me (basically straight up the ice) so I'm looking backwards for the puck. It's a pretty slow pass, so I'm expecting a bit of a hit when I get it. Anyways, the puck is still about 10 feet from me and this guy from the other team absolutely crushes me and from what I heard afterwards, I landed on my head and looked like a possible paralyzation. I got only a mild concussion and would have been 7 or 8 stiches on my chin from my cage, but they just glued it instead of stiches.

One time I was practising with the University team and they have a guy that's playing for the National team at the time (Around 176lbs - 20lbs less than me). Anyways, at first I was pretty much owning him in terms of hitting but then when I was looking for a breakout pass .... BANG! Hit me off my skates, went flying 5 feet back with head hitting off the ice after my helmet fell off during my fall. It gave me a bad bang and was winded for 2 seconds but my shoulder popped outta place.

I'm hurting all over hearing your war stories. Most of my injuries have been self-inflicted aside from the constant high-sticks to my chin which translate in stitch-work afterwards. :P

Last year, digging in the corner for a loose puck. I was battling another guy, and I backed up trying to get a better angle on it. Naturally I got decked from behind, my helmet came up and I dislocated my jaw, on top of getting a concussion.

The worst hit I ever received wasn't actually a bodycheck, it was a cross-checking, about 4 years ago.

Here's how it went. We were winning the game 5-2, and there was about 1:30 left in the game. We had a power play, 5 on 4, so a guy from the other team dumped the puck, so I picked it up in the corner (I'm a d-man). I take off and deek the first checker that comes in, and that guy actually tried to take my knee out, than I skate through the neutral on the left side, than I cut into the middle once I got passed the offensive blue line to take a slapshot. Than this guy comes out of nowher and hit's me with a cross-check direclty on the right side of my neck(just below my heltmet). I fall, and hit my head on the ice. I blak out for about 1/2 minutes and when I wake up there's about 5 or 6 people around me. They take me out on the sretcher and then into the ambulance and out to the hospital. I ended up with 2 broken vertebras and a very bad concussion.

Two days later I learned that the guy who hit me was the same guy who had tried to knock me down 3 times during that game, but was never able to (I was much bigger and stronger than him). I also learned that he guy broke his stick when he cross-checked me.
