Advice for ordering custom skates

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Based on all the useful information that I have found on this board, I am finally ready to order my pair of custom skates, and I was wondering if some the guru's and experts (JR) could look over my specifications and let me know if I may be overlooking anything (or being redundant). Thanks in advance guys.

-Bauer Vapor XXX Sr.- double stiched Pro spec (or is this redundant since they are custom order?)

Right=9 3/4 D/AA*

Left=9 1/2 D/AA*

Stiffness-Pro?/level 4

Stock Vapor XXX tongue

Extra thick ankle pads

Stock Clarino liner

Lightspeed 2 Holder-Black

Non-perforated Lightspeed 2 steel

Stock insole

*Just want to confirm that these are narrower than stock "A" heel width.

By the way; I already have Vapor XXX and they were great but my ex left them in my bag outside in the heat before they had dried out...I never thought synthetic materials could "decompose" like that (still using them though).

That reminds me, is now a good time to order customs? Are they still producing stuff for pros that would cause an extra delay?

Still doing Pro stuff. And the cost at our shop for custom XXX is 799.99 CDN and 899.99 for the One90.

my only opinion is to get a sheet from a rep or your shop that says what you can get. when i got my rbk 9k's custom done for me, i really wanted to get a different tongue like the old 652 felt with the white, and more stitching around the eyelets. i just mentioned it to the rep who handled my order and said i wanted those things added. but it slipped through the cracks i guess. love the skates so much though and if these ever get shotty, will order another custom pair when the time comes

My custom XXX's are a notch above stock stiff ( a 2 I believe) and are still hard as a rock after 7 times a week/7 months of use. I'm 5'9 180 and VERY hard on my skates.

I was in NBH factory in St Jerome last year. I picked up a pair of Vapor XXX Custom skates in a #4 stiffness going to a player in SM-Liiga, the top pro league in Finland. These boots were beyond stiff, they were like rocks. Don't plan on pulling the laces to tight because the uppers won't budge. It was damn near impossible to squeeze the ankles on the boot. At least if you want to go from 220 to 240, the #4 stiffness will hold up! I agree with Cavs019, the #3, a level above retail #2 stiffness will be more than enough. Honestly, you may be sorry with #4.

Yep, they will be narrower in the heel (thаn regular A heel width).
