Niinimaa for Ribiero

Recommended Posts

Like Bob said, Mike can be easly replaced by some other player and we needed a defensemen so. The Samsonov-Ribeiro-Kovalev trio didn't do a thing during the training camp and the day Ribeiro gets traded, Samsonov gets 3 points and Kovy 2 goals. And Kovy_Ribs it's very early to talk about the best trio Mtl as ever had in years, they have only played pre-season and it's the first game they click.

I can see Ribeiro getting 80 points this year, what a bad trade IMO. Bob is going to get it in his face in not much time.

I did not say trio, I said duo.

Even if they still had Ribs...I like Plekanecs on that line.

Montreal needed to open up a slot up front for one of their younger players. In return they got someone to add to their defensive depth. Janne was pretty good at the start of his career, but he hasn't been able to find a home over the last couple years.

Dallas adds some skill and potential up front and clears out a guy who wasn;t going to crack thier top 6 on D. Seems like the trade works on paper for both sides, let's see what happens on the ice.

Still the DUO didn't do a thing before the last game, people were even saying that Montreal only got Samsonov for is translation skills in the dressing room. He was always doing the translation for Kostistyn and Grabovsky who both don't speak a word of english. Samsonov was also almost invisible during the pre-season games he played in (watched 2 on tv and the rest of them on CKAC).

yeah, I agree with you Samsonov was almost invisible in all the pre season game except the last one. But, to his defense, he did not skate on ice of the summer because he finished to play so late last year. I will change my affirmation by saying the most skilled duo we have had in years.

LOL...is that a squirrel with flowers on the shirt? Nothing says strong like that outfit...the guy has some skills, but it's certainly hard to take him seriously if he'd actually wear that. More likely it's a Photoshop job done as a joke...for his sake I'm hoping so. LOL

I really doubt it's a photoshop thing, Ribs was always at the edge when it comes to clothing. The 3 amigos who now all left Montreal all had the same taste in clothing, now they are spreading the joy. Ribs in Dallas, Theo in Colorado and Dagenais who knows where Dagenais is, but he for sure is preading the love and the stronger message.

I couldn't even notice the shirt because I was stuck looking at the sunglasses he stole from Cher circa 1971.

Good to see the fish back. Sorry, though, solid doesn't get you traded around the NHL this many times. This is a case of trading my problem for yours.

I love this move for the Habs. Niinima is still solid and at 31 still has good years left. An upgrade on D, I think, and I hate Ribeiro anyway.

Solid? He wasn't expected to crack Dallas' top 6. This isn't the Niinima of old.

Hmm, you may be right, but I still like losing Ribeiro.

Not at all. A couple of guys I skate with went up there a few times last year and said the much of the Hab faithful hated Ribiero.

I don't know that they hated him...I think they were very, very hard on him...expectations are very high (obviously) in Montreal, especially for the French-Canadian players.

If he scored, and had a good agem, he was turning it around, and was on the right track...blah blah blah...when he played bad (which was more often than not last year) they were all over him.

What is Non-Roster status? I read on the ticker (tsn) during the Leafs pre-game that Ribeiro was given non-roster status so he could play tonight...

What does that mean? Doesn't his contract just transfer to Dallas from MOntreal?
