Stolen sticks.

It's gotten pretty bad, our team actually carries a small bag to put all our valuables in to take to the bench with us. As well use the biggest damn lock that we could find.

Never leave your wallet in the locker room. I always take it to the bench with me.

or leave your wallet in your car hidden.

I've done that and someone stole $80 from me.

well i would rather hide my wallet in my cars trunk or somewhere secret, then just sitting in a public locker room.

i know some people who have locked boxes in their cars.

I have always thought they should make hockey pants with a small zippered or velcro compartment, maybe on the interior, just big enough to hold a few credit cards, bills, and/or a car key. When I surfed, I would put my car key and sometimes my credit card and driver's license in a velcro pocket in my shorts, and I felt safe they would never come out, even if I was getting badly thrashed in a wipeout on the North Shore.

Just got this email from the league:

All,

Once again a team had some items stolen from their locker room. Although this has happened in the past, now the criminals are taking it a step further. They are going through clothing and looking for keys. They then take the keys and try to locate cars in the parking lot and go through them for wallets, cell phone, extra. They will then return the keys to the pants. The reason we know this is happening is that they dont always return the keys to the right pants.

The rinks and league are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Signs are posted around the rink stating this. Please protect yourselves and your teammates. One suggestion is to bring a bag with Keys out to the bench

I have a friend who learned the hard way and got his credit card stolen. The robbers spent about a grand on it before he realized it went missing and called his credit card company to cancel the card. Luckily the credit card company's insurance covered the theft. Everytime I go play hockey, I leave all my credit cards, bank cards and such at home and bring just enough money to cover drop in fees. I never leave my equipment unattended and have never been robbed of anything. I have a tendency to not trust anybody lol so it has served me well in that area at least.

Our team's simple protection against this is to have a keys/wallet bag that we bring out to the bench.

Or just have a friend with a bat and a phone book hang out in the locker room during the game.

lol locker room bodyguards

We do have them. Get a parent or two to stand by the glass next to our lockerroom.

We also do the bag thing where you put all your valuables in a bag. (worst thing is trying to sort out the ipods <_< )

You shouldn't have iPods in the lockerroom to begin with.

Being 2 hours early before the game + warmups. And we see each other enough with 3 practices a week.

Edit -- And plus. Kids with earphones on is also viewed as preparing. Getting in the mood by listening to your music. And its also good when you listen to your music if youve got goofs on your team that just mess around.

Or for sit in's.

I have to go to highschool games/practices a lot to help out and scrim with a few other players.

Sometimes its the last 20 min of a 2 hour practice.

Personally, I like to listen to music before I play. Clears my mind up and is really the only superstition/tradition I have besides being the first in the locker room.

Reminds me when I was young (about 10 or 12). My parents were seperated and my mom didn't have much money, my hockey subscription was payed by an organisation that gives the opportunity to kids who can't afford to play sports to do so. For a christmas present my mom had bought me (with the help of my brother who is 6 years older than me) a brand new Easton Aluminium. Anyway, I was waiting for my mom to finish work after my practice, I was hanging outside the arena and I had went to the bathroom for about a minute or so. When I came back my stick was gone, there were 3 guys who were outside the arena and they were also pushing me around because I was a bit fater than the normal kid, so I knew they had took it but I had no proof, even if I would have went to the Zamboni guy he probably woudn't have cared. I only had the chance to use it once.

that sucks.

i feel sorry for you about that!

at our local rink someone or some people went into a locker room while another team was practicing. they stole wallets and stuff, but worst of all a guy took a shit in a kids new bag and whiped his ass with the shoulder strap!!!!!!!!

thats sooooo ******* wrong but i busted out laughin thinkin of the kids face when when he saw that. player on my team had his gloves pissed in. he was the smelly player on the team so everyone said it smelty better lol
