Your stick height

Recommended Posts

Chin on skates, but I do use a low lie (around 4.5).

I couldn't possibly go any shorter than this.

Same

This one kid I know is the shortest hockey player I know of and he uses the brand new stick uncut, (senior yes). It goes to about the top of his helmet on skates.

i know someone like that to... he's real short and when he buys a stick he doesn't even care how long it is so most of the time it's above his head and he just uses it.

Longer sticks are better IMO. More leverage on shot, better reach. The only thing a shorter stick has on it is that you're a little quicker as far as stickhandling. My stick right now is between my top eyelid and eyebrow without skates. Although I've gone as high as my hairline on forehead and a low as an inch below my chin with no skates and just got used to it.

Only advice I would say is to use on thing and stick with it, don't change it a lot.

actually, I just checked and my stick comes up to my top lip while I'm barefoot. Legally the biggest I can use would come up to the top of my nose(63" measured from heel to end of the shaft). I couldn't imagine a stick any bigger!

3 inches below my chin pro tacks' on. I was forced to this situation, because those ultra-lite shafts are so damn short. After few practises it worked out with me pretty well, now I couldn't play with any longer stick.

62" from the butt of the shaft to the heel of the blade. I use a low lie though. If you have a high lie (7 ish) the same length shaft will come up lower on your face/torso than if you use a lower lie (4 ish) with the same shaft length.

If you use a short or long blade this will make a difference as well. A square or round toe will make a difference too, albeit small.

I used to do that.. I liked being able to bring the puck across my body and open up passing lanes and stuff. Poke checks were sweet too.

Upper Lip off of skates, which is around shoulder height (a little higher) on skates. I can't play with anything longer, and I have went shorter before, like below my shoulders.

Short sticks (below my chin) are optimal for me. Anything above that, and I can't puckhandle to save my life.
