Malkin's Curve

Recommended Posts

he's using a sher-wood momentum comp shaft with a sher-wood axion 1050 blade.

I LOVE that Sherwood Momentum XD shaft, btw... it's a great shaft and they run pretty cheap

i have that shaft and custom 950 tapered woodies but i have to say its been a disapointing experience using that shaft

It's been the opposite for me... then again, I'm saving for a wedding and whatnot.... so I can't buy ops' anymore... at least not til after I get married. Then, I'll just end up getting divorced because of my hockey spending.

I'm really crossing my fingers about that job at my lhs a couple days a week...

I'll never get where or why they classify it as that because the pattern below is what I've had/seen on his sticks from Nike/Bauer blade days all the way thru to his Inno/Vapor XX days. Unless he's got something different on the Warriors, which may be the case because I haven't seen one, it hasn't changed since this:

I hate to beat a dead horse but I haven't seen a big change in his pattern except for the times he used Modano retail patterns on his Synergy, but I'm sure those were just used to placate the Thrashers' front office because of his illegal curve penalties.

Hey mack, whats the lie like on kovys curve? Does it have a rocker like a sakic?

I hope you didn't mean it looks like a toe curve in the pic of his blade that I posted. If so, please tell me how you come to that conclusion because here's how I see it:

No I was talking about the image I liked to on getty images. I agree that that one looks like a heel, but I was saying in the one I posted, it doesn't so much.

Actually, it looks more like a mid-toe to me. I see the curve starting more to the toe than you have it. (2 years on the board and at last I square off against the Mighty Mack ;) )

That blade is also something like 4 years old. The picture posted with the overhead view looks like a mid-toe curve to me. More toe.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but doesn't the curve type (heel, mid, toe) depend on where the curve starts on the blade? If so wouldn't that blade be a mid-heel??

It's a good thing you missed the part where I stated that his pattern had not changed thru the Vapor XX period, but I hadn't seen the Warriors.

Wickedwrister-

How is it you think that starts at the mid-toe area?

Edit:

Here's his Inno. The getty pic posted does look more mid, but since this guy hasn't changed the pattern in at least 5 years I'd be hard-pressed to say it's actually different but weirder things have happened.

I think you are correct, but I think many people use a different technique/definition. They look for the area with the MOST CURVE.

It would be good to get everyone on the same page and have some standardization/agreement.

I hate it when people start arguing on patterns that have 2-3 curves

(e.g. starts with a small heel curve but then has a wicked curve right

at the toe).

instead of starting a new thread, does anyone know what semin's curve looks like?

On his old Synergys it was a Sakic clone, not sure if it has changed or not.
