Ho fast can you shoot?

Recommended Posts

you can crank it 80 somethin mph but how many times do you take that shot in a game and it actually goes in...

Your point is worth making but its still a good attribute to have.

Wrist shot = 126 MPH

Snap shot = 192 MPH

Slap shot = 284 MPH

All speeds have been tested and recorded by officials in the NHL, Russian Elite leage and FDA.

don't know, I started december 04 and my shots have never been clocked, i've never played in a league and i've never been to any camps or anything... although I'm almost 100% certain that my shot is probably no where near what people on here claim it to be

I find it hard to believe that 15, and 16 year olds are shooting that close to NHL speed. The hardest shooters in the NHL skills competion are you usually mid to high 90s. I think the best players in the world, would have a little more on there shot than that on most 15, and 16 year old hockey players.

I see the reasons for disbelief but I also don't see reasons for disbelief. Velocity is one thing, but you still have to be able to get the shot off quickly and accurately. That in itself is far more difficult than getting some 'oomph' on a shot. There are ceilings people hit where they can't do anything with more velocity than they could when they were younger, even in their teens.

Is that NHL speed? Cool.

If anyone can give me a radar thing they put behind the net and you shoot, Ill youtube it for ya.

Oh wait, you're also the kid who can skate laps around the rink in 12-15seconds at age 15.

When are you going to the NHL?

slap- 70 mph

wrist- 65 mph

snap- 55 mph

well i just had mine tested about 1 month ago and im 13 so i think it is pretty good

Slap-64 MPH

Wrist-45 MPH

Snap-40 MPH

You guys said this one sounds reasonable? Well if he has 3 years to keep working on it, he'll get it up to the 80's.

I will admit to what Mack and someone else said -- I dont get these shots off in games! I mean who has time to wind up like that and use all your force?

When I got clocked I had several turns and got to take my time and wind up.

Time to get these shots off? When I'm skating full speed down the boards with the puck on a 2 on 1, etc, is when I can really lay into it. I'm 18, was clocked at 79 and 81 at the last showcase I was at. Thing is I can control it every time I let it go, and 75 labeled top dog with a quick compact release is much more effective than 175 mph 15 feet wide of the net.

Also guys, don't forget All Tohrs is "Max Cook," explaining the velocity. :D

My coach has a puck that has a gadget in it that tells you the shot speed. I don't know how accurate it is. My best so far was a blindly fast 25mph. How's that for underimpressive.

http://www.speed-puck.com/

One of my teammates has the same puck. We tested it last sunday at practice. My hardest slapshot was 150km/h (94mph) at a bw. of 240lbs, but i was only second with that speed  ..

My teammate's hardest slapper was 173km/h (108mph). But this guy is a freak of nature 6,2ft 295lbs. He's a 2 times Swedens strongest man compeditor and the only swede ever to have beaten the world strongest man from -1998 Magnus Samuelsson..

Totally off topic, but what is your teammate's name? I follow the strongman show quite a bit. How is the rest of his game??

His name is Jarmo Paananen. Younger brother to 2 times WSM compeditor Jorma Paananen. Jarmo has not competed for 4 years, but is in pretty decent shape..

He's pretty good skater, good skating technique but not the fastest guy on the ice. His stickhandling could be better. Not a world class playmaker, but who needs those kind of qualitys when you play D and have a shot like Al Iafarate
