Removable shin guard liners

Recommended Posts

14" but never mind.

I pulled the liners out of my roommate's CCMs and they wouldn't stick because the material in my cheap bauers is too smooth for the Velcro.

oh well, i'll just wait until i upgrade.

they wouldn't have to be heavyweight sweatpants, they could be lightweight ones like what I wear when I play goalie.

I posted a thread about looking for replacement liners for my shins a month or so ago and it blew my mind that companies dont sell replacement liners here in North America. They sell palms for gloves, footbeds and holders for skates and parts for helmets but not liners for pads. I hope that these companies are reading this and add liners to their replacement list of things.

I wear my shin pads without the removable liner. I bought 5Ks and felt it fit too bulky compared to my old Jofas so i removed the padding from my Jofas and glued it into the 5Ks and they fit perfect. Ive worn them for over a year without any problems.

What did you do with the liner to your 5ks?

I hear you. I guess there are a few variables that need to be considered because each manufacturer has a different type/size/construction of liner.

I suppose a generic 'sponge' foam liner with a slightly thicker donut would do (such as a Mission Fuel 75 liner)? Or would you rather a more cushiony foam liner with a performance fabric lining and a thicker memory-foam type donut (Mission Fuel 110, Bauer 8000)?

Personally I think it's a good idea. I know it's not a new idea, I just don't know if there would be enough demand to warrant doing.

Funny how the issue was brought up...I just was cleaning my equipment and looked at my liners. They were all chewed up, I wear my shins over my tongues so it was probably due to them rubbing...I love my shins, but they're ancient so probably a new pair are in store. I don't see why they wouldn't have them...plus, it would be an easy way to keep your shins fresher if you don't wash your stuff much.

yikes, i get hot enough already!

i think i'll just look into longer skate socks.

Thats the thing I couldn't tell any difference in temperature only difference was that I got a snugger fit on my pad.

I think it would be great for seniors that keep the same stuff for years or kids that just dont take care of their stuff. Example; My dog ate the liner to my shins while I was at work and left them out to dry. So now what, go drop $75 + on a new pair of shins just because?

so did/do wear two pairs of socks, or cut off an old pair to wear underneath?

so, my rbk liners are getting pretty groty...any suggestions as to how to clean them?

thanks.

I put mine in the washing machine but mine is a front load, not as good with a top load model.

So do I, couple of times a month. Although I've got JOFA 9090s the liners are pretty much the same. It works great...

I've washed them tons of times in a top load machine... didn't bother to set spin to gentle either. And hung to dry.

Now that I have a fancy front load, I can see the agitation is much different. I'd be tempted to set a top load to gentle spin.

so if i put mine in my top load...should i use a gentle cycle, or just not use the machine at all?

also, for drying them, should i just let them hang?

I got lucky (well maybe not) after I cracked a cap on one my shins, I was able to get another pair of the same model so now I have 2 sets of liners.

I just throw them in the wash on the regular cycle and hang them up to dry, they dry in like 10 minutes.
