Crosbys visor

Recommended Posts

Yeah Pro Straight Modified, I got mine at KO Sports in Pittsburgh and said I'm looking for the Crosby visor and they knew exactly what I was looking for.

I still don't understand why he is wearing it, it serves absolutely no function as he wears it. It doesn't even cover his forehead, nevermind his face/eyes

yeah, but when he retires from hockey, he's going to have one beautiful, scar free forehead.

Remember that now all the new junior player going to nhl need the visor. So many of them would love to not have it on.And my guess is Crosby is one of them.

Just my 2 cents

There is no mandatory visor rule in the NHL. Not even for Crosby.

I'd say Nicklas Kronwall gets the award for most useless visor.

I agree with you there. I was watching the Detroit/Edmonton game last night and saw his visor and thought it was broke because it was like wrenched straight up. Why even wear a visor if its not even covering his eyes. Isn't that one point of wearing a visor?

I think that rule was for the AHL.

whats the point of his visor? the only way it looks like it would protect is if he had his head pointed down. if its that small and doesnt protect his face at all, why even bother with one?

in one pic it looks like the cut off point of his visor is at eye level., it seems like it would mess up his vision.

does he wear a mouthguard? do any pros wear em?

my local Sports Authority has a bunch of Oakley visors... varying shapes/sizes.. they had a few like Crosby's (real thin, with an upward cut) and a couple a la Heatley (long, aviator cut)

i would assume crosby probably would rather not to wear a visor at all - but since he would get alot of crap if he did that (probably from his parents & family) - he just wears a relatively small one

i noticed mark recchi wears his visor alot like kronwall (tilted outwards) - the only difference is he has a full size shield - i still dont see the point though cause its basically funnels all sticks that hit you around the face right into your eyes :P

i think for most of the guys wearing visors like crosby and kronwall dont like the the vision you get from the halfers but having it there would stil protect your eyes from a stick coming at you in some cases

I'd say Kronwall was required to wear a visor before going to the NHL, and used it in that fashion. He's still borderline for being sent to the Grand Rapids Griffins and would have to wear a visor there, so he doesn't want to change a thing between the leagues.

Or he's superstitious and won't change equipment setup after wearing a visor in Sweden for so long. He still uses candycane grip on his shaft despite the huge increase in grip technology in the last few years, even though he goes through several sticks a game and has to retape them often. The game used of his I saw looked like it had been retaped at least 3 times, but had barely any wear- suggesting he screws them up often.
