Docter Pepper 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 All i play anymore is rec hockey. It's no check, but usually mid-way through the games it starts to pick up a bit. I haven't worn shoulder pads in over a year, so i don't want to go back to my fullsize shouler pads for rec hockey. I saw some Eastion Classics online and was wondering what else was out there. Do any of you have any experiences with the current "old school" shoulder pads?
Guest OSTOR Report post Posted November 27, 2006 best non-check would probbaly be Sherwood 5030s Very nice and light
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 SherWood 5030 "traditional". They have a whole line of "old school" equipment.I'm looking to pick up a pair for myself, as I haven't worn any shouldies for the past 2 seasons, but it's nice to have a bit of protection there. Just a matter of me not being lazy and going to my LHS.edit: beat me to it.
Docter Pepper 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 I also remember seeing some Bauer ones on Hockeygiant last spring, but i can't find them now. Our annual Allumni high school game is next month and that will be full check
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 maybe you mean something like the bauer 400 series? they're low end pads, but minimalistic.

Docter Pepper 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 maybe you mean something like the bauer 400 series? they're low end pads, but minimalistic.I don't think thats what it was. I remember they had hard plactic shells and i think they were white and blue. Also, they were going for about $60 at the time. I thought something like HDP was in the title of it Pics of the 400 series for reference
akhockey 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 It was probably the Bauer SBDII Shoulder pads. There's some on eBay.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 http://www.hockey2.com/show_results.asp?thisID=1095It's called the D & R 1650.Not many size left. The model year before them was much better. The 1600 was a very good pad but some of the changes they made to the 1650 made them much less popular.

Docter Pepper 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 So is there any sort of consensus on what pair offer the maximum protection out of this group? The Bauer ones look the strongest to me, but i have not had experience with any of these types of shoulder pads. Still interested in a link for the Bauer SBDII's for sale too
swede 52 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 The easton Classic SP has more protection for the chest, back and upper arms than the Bauer's or Sher-wood's.. I have the Sher-wood 5030's myself. They are very light anf comfy, but it hurts to take a slapper in the chest or ribs.I ordered a pair of the Easton classic's from greatskate here in Sweden yesterday, but they didn't have XL in stock, so i have to wait a few weeks to get them delivered from US.. I will write a review when worn a few times
G60 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 a couple years ago Hespeler had a line called Classic Lite.like the name says, they were classic styled, and very light. i had a pair of classic lite shin pads and they were very lightweight, comfortable, and adequate protection for rec play.here's a pic of the shoulder pads:i don't know where they're available, ebay would be your best bet. hockey315 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2006 Bauer is making their NHL Pro pad available at retail. It's not even in the catalog, my rep brought it by. It's not cheap, probably $179. Very little chest padding with hard shoulder caps. Was talking with Keith Primeau last season in the locker room and he was wearing a pair. Pretty sweet looking pad. All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2006 The smallest shoulder pads, which are super light would have to be the graf 705's if you asked me. Your looking for old school stuff but this is like going back to old school. It does have hard plastic padding on the tip of the shoulder, but other then that it feels like nothings on you.The smallest shoulder pads, which are super light would have to be the graf 705's if you asked me. I Know it is super light compared to alot of other shoulder pads. I'd like to try on some 703's then.Did you sell yours? Sounds like you had alot of shoulder pads.
