Forsberg's skate issues

Recommended Posts

The orthotic he wears break down in a game or two....??? Add practices to that and he must be going through 2-3 a week.

Do pros have "benifits", or would he be buying his own?

I got to flyers game quite often and the last two seasons he has been switching skates constantly. I know for sure in the beginning of last season he wore the Vapor XX's and toward the playoffs he began to wear the XXX's. I saw him once change his pair mid-game back to the XX's. He was wearing the one90's for a few practices but other then that he almost always uses Vapors but I could see him possibly making a trip back to wearing Easton skates pretty soon.

I heard that the trainer for the flyers tore apart his vapor xxxs, put individual pieces of padding in the skate where he wanted it, and then stitched the skate back together and Forsberg has had no problems since then.

I understand Peters pain...

I have a similar problem as a result of an injury, your foot rolls in the boot and your skate blade never sits correctly on the ice, or very rarelly anyway...

This causes a ton of problems when you push off, stop, take a shot or someone leans on you... this also explains why he does not shoot as much, you always find yourself resetting your position to get velocity on the puck and more often then not it comes off your stick funny because you have no time at top speed to do it... So he uses his vision and dishes it cause he does not need blade grip to do that well...

This also explains why he took into habit to initiate contact when he has the puck so he chooses how he lands on his blades...

Some guys will laught at me but I know what hes going thru, everytime hes on the ice, he feels different, some times good, some times bad, so bad that it makes you feel like quitting the dam sport... :(

This was on Sports Illistrated's site

"Peter Forsberg returned to the ice yesterday after a two-day trip to Mesa, Ariz., to visit with orthotics specialist Ernesto Castro. He said he came back without a foot brace, but with several ideas the Flyers were trying out in his skate until something better could be designed by Castro and given to Bauer to manufacture.

A friend of a friend had that done to her xxx's, i've yet to see them but she got the inside all ripped out and reinforced, along with a new liner and thicker padding. She also got a thicker tongue put in.
