did the players always get new gloves for the all star game? Because I don't remember that part. So much for other companies having pant deals with players.

They're shells...there has always been an official shell.

No, players did not get new gloves for the ASG, well, for the most part.

But then again, jerseys back then were made of wool.

I like how the Young Stars wear their own jerseys...makes it like a shinny game. They should skip faceoffs too...just have the goalies throw it out behind the net after a save and keep playing...

"The New RBK Edge socks could make tape obsolete..."

Look at the pics posted above....every guy is still using tape. Habit, Superstition, or are the first batch of new socks not as tight as the final version will be?

I was wondering how the crest would be like on the game jersey....

It looks like they use a thick piece of tackle twill for the crest (and I assume the other patches)on the game jerseys. And the design is actually stitched on them, unlike the replica that I saw eariler in the week. On the majority of replicas, the crest and all patches would be exactly like they were on the game version. They really cheapened the replica jersey in my opinion. For 110.00, you would think the jersey would be close to the game issued jersey.

Bettman just poured half a bottle of water on a jersey (CBC interview with Ron Mac) and it beaded right off....didn't look like much water (if any) was held by the jersey.

I may need some time to get used to the look of them, but THAT is an awesome development.

I don't get how the new uniforms make you safer.

They probably dont but the concept behind it is that tighter uniforms help keep your equiptment in postion better so there is less chance of it slipping out of position etc

The vast majority of players do NOT like the jerseys.

What do you have to back that up?

All of the quotes by people not paid by the company making the jerseys. I also spoke to someone last week who has actually been in many of the NHL locker rooms and his comments were pretty negative.

When the Sharks tried them in practice, one of them said (and I can't remember who, I will try to find the article), that because you could see the pads through the jerseys, other players would have an easier time lining up an elbow to the unprotected parts, whereas before, they didn't know if you had extra protection on under the bigger jerseys

I read a quote from Souray...he's an Easton guy...and he said he liked them. Hopefully he positives aren't all an RBK PR job.

What would stop a guy who wore a size 54 (old jersey) from getting a 58 (new jersey) and having it fit loosely, like a 'traditional' jersey. They aren't being told what size to wear are they?

Other players are more negative. After practicing with the new system in December, San Jose Sharks defenseman Kyle McLaren worried opponents will have "a birds-eye view" of where his equipment stops and tape from an injury begins.

"You come back from an injury, and they can see it because you're all taped up," he says.

Teammate Scott Hannan was dubious about promised technology benefits. "I feel 8% faster out there," he says with a smirk.

The NHL says they are going to have a new policy preventing modifications or oversize jerseys. The NHLPA said the league would need their approval to institute a rule like that. All in all they don't look that bad, though I'm not a fan of how tight the sleeves are.

RBK's just looking to make a quick buck. Appears they are going to. socks look absolutely retarted and this crap on the RBK website about "players will have new confidence going into the corners" regarding the pants is a hoax. The Jerseys, on some players it looks like the white jerseys are so tight i think you can see the lower elbow pad in the forearm part. Good job GBettman youv'e really done it this time.

I was a hater when Nike released the Swift college jerseys, but I must say after watching the all star game last night they are pretty nice. I definately agree that players will size up a little bit to make them a bit looser but I am a fan of the jerseys... in a purely asthetic reason as well, I really don't buy into their marketing of injury resistance and wind resistance although it's pretty obvious they will be a lighter jersey that retains less water.

I like the move on the part of the NHL, the only thing that scares me is the homogenious design for each team, but from what I have seen in the all star jersys they are extremely nice

The old jersey seemed to work for this guy.

Just because the whiny brat on the left needs a little help, they have to change the jerseys league wide.
