New Oakley Visors?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anybody knows what Oakley is releasing for 2007 visor wise. I'm hoping they add some new tint colors or a new style of cut. Has anybody heard anything? New tints or styles being released? I haven't heard anything but when Ovechkin aired that sick visor at the All-star game it really got me wondering. Plus just about everyone is drooling over the idea of having that visor....I know guys who would kill somebody for that thing.

I don't know anything about what they are releasing but I was pretty sure that the visor isn't legal in the NHL. I don't know if that would apply to any other leagues.

Because it was mirrored, eh? I still think that's a load of BS that it's banned.

Oakley visors are unchanged for 2007. Itech has a mirrored visor in the catalog. There are guys in our rink tinting their own shields.

Use powder t-shirt dye material, mix it in luke warm water, dunk your mask in for a few seconds at a time to get to desired color. Make sure your mask is clean first, obviously. I've seen it done it in yellow. Jayson told me how to do it. He did his in black. When he first dunked it for 5 seconds, it wasn't dark enough. So he dunked it again until it got as dark as he wanted it. He said with his black helmet, it looked like StarWars on ice. My disclaimer is I am not responsible for anybody ruining their clear shield but it can be done!

How bout markers and plastic wrap?

Actually that sounds intriguing to do it with my combo since I can't buy a tinted shield for that.

That stuff can bubble very easily. I can hear Jeff Foxworthy now: How do you know you're a red neck hockey player? When your tinted visor starts to bubble from the window tint stick-on you bought at WalMart.

Just busting, don't take it personally........

I know it can bubble, but that's mostly because of heat differences, like a rear defrost on your car... I could be wrong too, but I thought most of the side windows that had bubbles were from idiots not applying it correctly. If it does bubble, you might be able to take it off. maybe make a tab on the edge out of the field of vision to pull it off motocross tear away style if it goes bad? Just thinking out loud.

no offense taken ;)

Guessing like dying your skate holders then...you say t-shirt dye. Anything specific? Or could that Rit Dye be used like with the holders?

It is very hard to tint them with window tint.

I had done it once - took to a car shop, he was able to do it but it was very hard due to the curvature of the visor.

2 kids on my team did the same thing. Looks cool as hell IMO. Only problem, when it fogs up + the tint..almost impossible see out of.

Haha looks like I'll be buying some powdered t-shirt dye soon....and a cheap visor(if thats possible). For some reason I think I might try red.....sounds ridiculous but nobody else has a red visor. They come in blue and yellow....shit why not red or green. I'll let you guys know how it works. My guess is I'll be down 50 bucks and I'll have a bubbly red plastic mess in my trashcan.

DS, do you know if this works with oakley visors? they're finicky as hell when it comes to using cleaning solutions... I'd be wary of trying dye on it for fear of crystallizing it.
