Loosing fat

I guess that makes me one of the unlucky ones...I've never, as long as I can remember, had an ounce of fat on me - and, for awhile, before I started hitting the weights, I really, really could have used a couple extra pounds.

there is no shortcut to loosing weight. Diet and cardio is all you can do. All of those supplements that you see all over the place, are basicly junk. Do some research on diet, what to eat, at the right time, carb cycleing, things like that.

go to that website and read some of the articles and the message board is packed full of information. If you do decide to buy some kind of supplement, (protien shake and maybe some glutamine is the only thing I would spend my money on), you can research what you are buying on the forums. It has saved me a couple of times from wasting money on something I thought would be worth the money.

Or *gasp* a mix of both!

Eat less concentrated drinks and sugar added drinks, stay away from as much processed stuff as you can, get more fresh veggies/fruits, drink a LOT of water, try to hit 30 minutes of cardio a day and you will lose weight.

Definitely hit Bodybuilding.com. It's completely free and is the best resource I've found really for anything on the web.

Also check out the book "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle." It's an eBook, so you won't find it in stores. Basically it's a summary of everything from Bodybuilding.com and most of the prevailing weight loss and muscle gain wisdom.

Basically I spread out six meals of relatively equal calories, watch my calories closely and take in about 1.25 times my BMR, eat a ratio of 40/40/20 protein:carbs:fat, do cardio every morning (HIIT), lift weights twice a week, avoid sugar and refined grains, get lots of veggies, and drink a lot of water. If you do that, there's no reason you shouldn't drop fat very quickly and keep your muscle.

these are the words of the wise, and the truth! Just watch what you eat, and keep up with your cardio... if you get wrapped up in your gains, etc- you'll neglect your cardio and faulter.

As far as supplements- avoid them, I dropped over 100 pound using ephedra suppliments while they were still on the market. I basically cut my intake down to plain chicken, and brown rice 3 times a day. While I worked my ass off to drop the weight, the supplements were my "crutch", and also my excuse to cheat. My diet, and workouts basically landslided and I've put on about 60 pounds of the weight back on (in over 3 years)...

Don't think of your actions as a "diet", it's a change of lifestyle- eating healthier foods, etc.

I never turned to supplements, so I can't speak for or against them. What I can offer is advice to manipulate when you eat. I moved my big meals from late in the day to early in the day. I still eat like crap, but I don't find I'm as hungry at night. I found my historically stubborn midsection fat finally gave way in just a few weeks. I noticed my jeans slipping down, but others noticed the changes around my face. Altering when you eat is a difficult lifestyle change, especially when other people are involved. Set yourself apart if you have to. What and when you eat has to be under your control. Don't get pushed around. Consistency is key. I highly recommend trying big breakfasts.

Whatever you do, don't get into the mindset that you need to eat less. People often try this by starving themselves all day, then gorging uncontrollably at night as a "reward". They force their bodies to horde everything because it's trying to get by on one meal per day. The body becomes lazy in an attempt to be energy efficient. In this way, you can eat very little and still gain weight. Don't waste your time.

Sesamin works for me. A green tea extract called Lean Green. TTA also works but you can cramp badly on it if you aren't careful with your electrolyte intake.

ADDED: By the way, its "lose" fat. The only way you can "loose" fat is if you shake your ass for a while and it stretches out your skin etc etc.

you havent had any problems losing muscle with that or becoming dangerously skinny have you?

most all people lose some muscle mass when droping that kind of weight. Diet supplements will chew up your muscles hardcore, which is one of the reasons why they are so bad for you. You might need to drop some weight, but you dont want to look like a stick-man when your done. Once you get your diet in order, you will realize that plain oatmeal, skim milk, grilled chicken, and brown rice are your new bestfriends.

This is total fallacy. The burners guilty of being really catabolic are the strong stimulants and the thyroid based fat burners. You will always lose a bit of LBM when you diet but if you keep your protein intake up (particularly your BCAAs) you will preserve a lot of it. The other thing is, all of those fat burners I listed are not stimulants really, they are based off of fatty acids. That reminds me, forskolin is another one that works well as does a product liek Glucophase xr (a K-R-ALA based product). It really depends what your bf is at now and what you want to lose. Go to bodybuilding.com or anabolicminds.com and look up products like sesamin, sesathin, camphibolic, burn3d by omega sports. Eating supplements is useless if you don't get your diet and exercise in check. And no, I never got dangerously skinny.. I am basically a mesomorph so my body has its own tendencies.

I know I'm not answering the question of supplements, but when taking summer school three summers ago, my life revolved around my classes, my dorm room and the gym. That summer I lost a little more than 50 fat pounds with no more than cardio, weightlifting and a completely changed diet.

The weight's still off.
