Best price point composite blade?

Recommended Posts

I need a composite blade to match up with my Salming Strike shaft. Until now i have only used Easton's Hybrid lami composite blade. But the stick feels quite blade heavy, so i'm looking for a light, price point composite blade..

Easton's composite blades is not an option, since they are extremely overpriced in Europe..

Suggestions?

There is a few that i have looked at myself. Anyone got any opinions about theese:

Warrior ak27

NBH one80

NBH Vapor2

RBK 5k

Fury Composite blade

V2 isn't bad...but idk if it might compare to other things on your list the like AK blade and RBK cause those are a little higher end.

Hmm... They might be higher end, but they are about the same in price compared to the others.. The V2 is a bit cheaper, but allmost the same..

AK27, Easton, and Rbk 5K are all going to be higher end with a relatively close price. As far as a cheaper blade goes, id try the Fury or Rbk 4K. Usually when a blades price gets cheaper, the feel and quality get cheaper as well. Not saying the 4K is a bad blade, but if you compare that to a 5K or the high end Warrior AK27 i think youll notice a tremendous difference.

I'd go with the AK27. It may be close in price, but it's a much more quality blade than the rest you listed... I've tried all outside of the fury (never heard of it actually) and the AK27 is much lighter and has better feel than the others.

The V2 is pretty heavy, and not as thin, myself and most people I know don't care for RBK blades, they're just bad quality and the feel isn't too hot.

I would think that Salming blades would be a good option if you're in Sweden. Are they not available, or are they quite expensive there?

Since you are from europe, too, have a look at Passvilan MPS blades:

http://www.passvilan.com/akompozc.html

The standard curves (# 11, 22, 33, 44, 55) are 23€, other curves (# 12-43 on the website + some more, they told me they have about 60 different curves) are 25,30€!

They are doing custom curves, too, 20 blades minimum, each 74€!

I have never used these blades and cant tell if they are light or heavy or how durable they are ..

salmin has 2 blades. The Evo, which is a tapered composite blade. The other one "Strike" is a hybrid. So... Salming is out of the question.

Anyone whos has tried the NBH supreme one80 blade?

Beside the graphics, it looks very similar to the AK27

140 flex shafts! I think I just broke my wrist! :o

Their curve selection actually looks pretty good though.

Try the Fury, it's light, durable and has pretty good puck feel.

Agreed. They really do have a very nice feel to them, better than a few wood blades I've used.

I will be the third to tell you to use a Fury, if you are looking for a light blade with good feel.

I have also used 2 of the other blades on your list, the NBH V2 and the RBK 5K, but I still prefer the Fury blades. I guess it also depends what curve you want on them.

Hmm... i think i'l go for a Fury then. If there is a Sakic clone would say..

savard, Kapanen, K.Primeu.. Which one is closest to a sakic?

One thing to consider about the Fury is that they seem to chip somewhat easily and have been known to get soft. I'm really picky though so what I consider going soft most would consider fine. Just to give you an idea of how picky I am, I've never seen a wood blade that I didn't consider soft.

uh-ooh...

That didn't sound to good. I'm also very picky with my blades getting soft.. Since october, i have gone trough 6 Easton hybrid blades. Non of them has broken down totally or chipped, but i feel a big difference when shooting.

if you look in my thread in the trade section you can see pics of the chips. It's not horrible considering how thin the blade is and how light it is. The issue I had was the blade getting soft, most of my friends don't think the blade is that soft but I just don't feel comfortable with blades that aren't rock hard stiff. Like I said, I haven't seen a wood blade that I didn't consider soft.

I'd recommend trying it if you can get it for a decent price, one of the best "feel" I've ever gotten from a composite blade.

The Modano-ish curve is the only one that gets soft. One of the guys at the rink used Keith's curve for over a year without any problems and he was on the ice several nights a week and was always ripping slappers with it. Keith's curve is the most like a Sakic but is not exact. It's a slightly lower lie with a very flat bottom and more of a toe.

Just wanted to mention this after reading all the posts proclaiming the AK27 blade a good buy...

All the Warrior sticks and blades sold in Europe (atleast what I have seen) are not in the cheakerbord(?) pattern but the "old" design, which has turned out to have major durabillity issues.

And Fury is actually a very decent blade.

My blade is a lidstrom. Maybe the length of the blade added to what I call "getting soft." My blade also has a sandpaper type of finish on the face of the blade, is this standard? I've never seen any other Fury blade other than the one I own.

Most batches did have that finish but we had a few that didn't.
