I am looking to buy the Bauer 8000 helmet combo. I was wondering if any of you have had any problems with them delivering the product that you have ordered.

Thanks for all your help in advance. :)

oops double posting, sorry!

I haven't bought anything from them but judging from the skate pics they photoshopped on their site, they seem pretty sketch to me.

the whole photoshopping of the skates does seem to bring this site a bad rep, but both my buddy and i ordered shinpads and a cage from them, were in canada and shipping was fast and perfect, everything arrived as described...i think theyre ok

They aren't supposed to ship products across the border.

I ordered a CCM Vector 10.0 mid-flex on closeout and I got a V.130 in light-flex without any notice. Not only that, the stick I received was defective.

I have ordered from them twice and received exactly what I wanted more quickly than I expected. If you have questions, try their 800 number. The telephone service I have gotten was tremendous--very knowledgeable staff in my experience. I think the 800 number goes to St. Louis.

I have placed a few very large orders with Total Hockey in the past and have been impressed with their workflow.

I just ordered from them yesterday. I should be receiving my order by the 27th or 28th. I'll provide an update to let you know if there are any issues or problems with my order.

They have always been good with shipping. Never had to return anything or never had any problems.

Their stores in St. Louis and Chicago have been amazing. Great service there and alot, alot to choose from.

Their online store is OK. I think there are better online stores you could go to. Totalhockey.net has often times not had what Im looking for online, but their store would have it.

The Chicago-area store is great for sticks! they have tons of them.. A decent variety of gloves and helmets. But i didn't think they had much for protective though. But i haven't been there in a month and the last time I was there they said there were getting a big shipment of everything soon, so maybe there is a better selection now.

Guys, they haven't photoshoped their skates. Those "Custom" One90s and Vapor XXXX HAVE colored holders. They have a process that they use to "dye" the holder. They were at the LPH Expo in Minnesota and had the holders/skates displayed. I had them in my hands and looked the holders over closely. I assure you that they are real.

The only part that is a little shady, is the fact that they are marketing the skates as "Custom". It's the holder that is custom colored, that is all.

I did order a helmet from them last year, and when they couldn't get it from CCM, they called me and let me know. I canceled the order and got it somewhere else.

Overall, they seem like good guys.

They have used other sketchy pics in the past.

They do the RIT dye routine on those colored holders and charge $90 for a $5 dye job...

Keep in mind that you're not just getting a dye job, you're getting a brand new set of holders as well. (Holders run $20-$35 each, sometimes more)

Even still, if that's what they charge for it, and some people are willing to pay for it, then so be it. That's business, and as a consumer you have the right to not buy that item. It doesn't make them a bad retailer.

I haven't really trusted them(they just seem shady) but because of this thread I registered and ordered from them today. Order was processed and shipped today and I placed the order at about 3:30pm EST. Pretty quick processing because the shipped notification email was at about 5:00pm EST.

There have been other threads on this subject. Biggest complaint has been that they have told MSH'ers that the holders are colored the whole way through and NOT dyed. A blatant lie!

True, they have them hanging on display near their skates, just the holders. White on the inside.

Yes, there have been other threads, and I've read them. I remember the thread you're talking about.

Just because someone who works in the shop doesn't know what's going on and gave some bad information to a member on here doesn't mean that the shop is bad or shouldnt be trusted. How many times have you read the following words on this board? "I know more about the product than the people who work at X shop."

Also, at the end of the day, $90 isn't all that much to charge for a set of dyed holders. While I don't know the price of a regular set of Lightspeeds on their site, It's running you $70 for a pair of regular ones at most places anyway. A $10 upcharge per piece for the dye job isn't outrageous IMO. It seems like a lot when you've already got a perfectly good set of LS2s on your skates, but in essence, they're charging $20 to dye the set.
