wich comp. uses paint and stickers on their stick?

Recommended Posts

i know the blue ccm vectors were stickers, they used to peel off really easily. Kids on my team used to have all blue sticks, no graphics, they actually looked pretty cool... anyway, im not sure if they still do this, as i haven't really looked at any of the newer ccm's. The RBKs look like they may be stickers because you can see a faint line around the edge of the graphics, however, you cannot peel them off like the vector's. I know easton paints theirs on, pretty sure NBH is the same way.

My Vapor XXX, Made in Mexico, is all sticker. The sticker came away at the fuse point between the blade and the shaft. I can see the difference in the graphite weave between the blade and shaft.

I have a TPS Adrenaline shaft. It is definatly painted and not stickers. But, it's pro-stock, so I'm not sure of the retail Adrenalines.

I have an old response C8 and it's painted as well.

NBH, CCM, and TPS use stickers.

Easton, RBK, Sher-Wood and a couple others use Silk Screening

Which TPS's are you talking about?

Response, Response Plus and Adrenaline all use paint.

What is the technique behing "silk-screening" ?

My Misson shafts are painted(silk-screened?).

I love me some Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silkscreen

I could be wrong about the Mission comp shafts being screenprinted, but it's a pretty common process in production environments. The "How It's Made" video from this thread shows the Sher-Wood plant screenprinting their wood sticks.

Response lite too

My XN10 looks like decals though. I can barely seem some seems under the finish. What it looks like is a few stickers underneither the finish, but it could possibly just be the end of the silk screening paint. It hasn't been used so I don't have any wear and tear, which would give it away.

My old redlite shaft was is painted too.

I will give you guys a general way to find out coz I've done some decals for composites before. Usually if the graphics don't go all the away around on the rounded edges of the stick, it's print like the previous Eastons. And if the graphics wrap on the edges of the stick like the Vapor XXX it's decals. (stickers) I think it's safe to say that most of the composites today are decals.

i think it's because you can do more visuals with decals. I'd imagine silk screening is rather limited with what you can do.

My older brothers do complete wraps on my sticks. It looks really neat, you can get your name number, team name, logo, whatever, in some cool colors. I usually put some thicker "armor-like" material to protect from slashes and skate cuts. There's also some grip decal too that makes your stick feel brand new haha

Seems like the decals are starting to go under clearcoat of some sort recently, should help keep them somewhat in tact. Unlike the v110/120/130 and the like. Personally, I come from the school of less is more, so I prefer silk screening.
