Penguins Stick Sale

Recommended Posts

They look pretty sick..(sticks and skates). I really do with the Devils had a sale like this..but no..Lou wouldn't be that kind to the public.

are you serious? first off, the devils have a draft party sale every year (advertised in the newspapers, may i add) with players equipment used that year. i was able to pick up gionta's XX's for example. a load of sticks are also available. second, i remember when my family first purchased season tickets we went to see our seats over the summer. we wound up running into lou in the office area while we were waiting for an employee to show us around. lou asked my sister and me who our favorite players were (rolston and sykora, at the time) and he came back within 5 minutes with two autographed sherwood team model sticks. unless he's changed or did something to you, im not sure what would give you the impression you have.

to stay on topic: its too bad the crosby sticks werent there. i heard he uses his until they break though so maybe that's why.

I know they do, but im just wish they had them more regularly..im not complaining, im just wishing. And i was mostly just being sarcastic..I wasn't trying to bash Lou in anyway. To me, he is the best GM in the league.

It seems to me like the teams should just donate this stuff to charity, or sell it via silent auction. Then again, I've never been to one. How much did the skates cost?

Yup those are retail. Pro stock never has the size tag on the side of the tongue.

I was just wonderin why a pro would have retail stuff? I know some have seen retail sticks on the bench, so if they like a product the way it is (ie skate stiffness or padding, lenght etc.) do they just ordre retail so its cheaper, or maybe if its a very slight alteration to skate they let the team staff make the adjustments?

Maybe some of proceeds get donated to charity.

The proceeds all go towards buying new equipment.

There will never be any Crosby equipment there because he has his own memorabilia deals that restrict the penguins from selling any of his equipment...

as for the sale, complete gong show, but you have to understand that the penguins employees could give a rats ass about how enjoyable our experience is. all they care about is getting rid of the stuff, and since there were 500 people there, it's all gonna get bought one way or the other. the only difference between being organized or not is more work for them...

i picked up 4 ekman fuels and the whitney pro stock easton gloves... dietzie if your interested in an Ekman send me a PM...

Anyone know how other equipment sales throughout the NHL are organized? Do they all have a feeding frenzy for the sticks or are they priced so high (like the Canadiens do) that people actually thunk for a minute and not grab armfuls of sticks at a time?

Gloves I bought from the Pens sale. It was very poorly setup with what felt like a thousand people rushing into a tiny room. Everything was gone within minutes, really crazy experience compared to the first 2 sales which were laid back.

Gloves are practically brand new with just some light discoloration in the palms. Great deal for $50. I'm lucky I got anything and I was one of the first 10 in.. These were Carins' gloves. No wonder they have no wear

maybe the reason for orpik to be wearing retail skates, and i hope i'm not telling you guys something you already know, is that from what i've heard his dad is a nike/bauer rep. one of the guys at greatskate told me that when i visited their store while i was in the buffalo area last year. the reason his name came up is because i'm a wbs penguins season ticket holder and started to talk about brooks who is from that area.

Anyone know if Calgary holds an equipment sale?

Yes, the Flames have a used equipment sale every year in the late spring/early summer. If there's something in particular that you want, I suggest camping out the night before as it is usually a mad house.

What does this have to do with him wearing retail skates?

Most likely he fits into a stock size and didn't ask for anything "special" on his skates. I've been hearing from a lot of people that some of the younger players aren't even asking for custom curves, just whatever retail pattern that they're used to.

I ended up with two whitneys and a gonchar. I traded some kid the Gonchar for a fuel ekman for my friend. I also ended up pickin up Orpik's Vapor xxx skates, there still in good shape. there a 9.5D. Im still debating on whether to sell them or not, ask and ill consider all offers. I also traded a whitney for an Oullet so I could have a righty.

My buddy ended up with 4 Fuel Ekmans total, although two ended up being broke, and a pair of Whitney Gloves, same as Moores.

My other buddy picked up a pair of Eric Cairns MIAs in good contition.

But nicks right, total wrong way to do the sale it was kayos. I had to stand still for like 5 Min. because there was no where to go. All in all it was decent.

Somebody picked up a shit load, but I dont know if he wants me to mention it or not so I let him chime in if he feels the need.

Yeah I picked up about as many pairs of pants as I could grab, basically was just grabbing anything CCM or RBK. I did manage to snag the only RBK helmet they had for $50, CCM gloves and Orpik's XXX gloves... It wasn't bad, but I feel like I missed out on a lot. I didn't even sniff the sticks, just because it was such a mad rush.

We were standing in line and heard the one guy talking about his memorabilia business, while most of the other people who jumped to the front of the line were moms and young girls.

Helmet wise they had 6 or so brand new in the box CCM 652s, a few used Bauer 5000s and like I said the one new RBK.
