Bladetape

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to get some feedback from people who have used Bladetape. I believe it is similar to the tackmac grips. It is made locally (where I live) and is extremely popular right now.

It is...extremely popular right now.

Because Ron McLean mentioned it during HNIC last weekend. I'd like to try it as well, but the only place nearby that i could find it is Brampton (not really local).

You can get it at some LHS's but Canadian Tire as well.

The place in Brampton is a PIAS...and I think only CT's in BC have it right now.

I used it, and it's as good as normal tape, but if you play in a league that's chippy (read: skates on sticks/slashing/battles) it doesnt last very long. And at $10 a pop, I didn't think it's particularily worthwhile.

Catch a couple hard passes and it rips up as well. The only thing it's good for is softening up a hard blade. Put it on and tape over it and passes will stick to the blade.

+1

Doubt it will last more than a couple of games.

Never tried the Blade tape, but I've used the tackmac and something similar by franklin and I hated them. It makes the blade feel dead, and causes the puck flip over while stickhandling.

they are unbelieveable popular in my area especially because Willie Mitchell and another Canuck (I can't remember who) are using it.

Plus it was on TV so it must be great. There have been similar products on the market for years.

Evidently he doesn't touch the puck all that much.

Many players of all ages and abilities state that BladeTape's unique patented formulation offers the following specific benefits:

• shock absorber for those lively one piece sticks

• better grip on the puck...you can now have a backhand too!

• less friction resistance and drag on the ice for freer, easier stickhandling

• no more frozen snow and ice build-up - BladeTape repels frozen water!

• and it is lighter, faster and easier to apply than traditional hockey tape

Does it do what it claims to do? Danny Markov I think is also using it.

Yet the segment with Ron Maclean and Brian Kilrea before the game tonight, Maclean had regular tape on his stick...

Maybe your right but I don't think those videos were made that recently, so he wouldnt have the blade tape then.
