sweetblazer 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 It is the release date. And I would like to throw out that i don't think the XXXX's feel the same as the XXX's I have always skated ccm/reebok more recently and NEVER liked a Bauer skate, hell I won a pari of XXX's and sold them. But when we got them in a few days ago I tried it on and I really liked it. I always felt that bauer lacked paddign comfort on the inside and was impressed by the comfort. TBLfan 25 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 The toe box is much wider than the old vapors. I only have a slight issue with the fit while the vapor XXXs hurt before I even laced them up. The ankle padding is great, feels amazing. The insole might be an issue with people that skate barefoot or with non-skate socks(ie somewhat slick socks) because it's grippy. With a nike drifit sock the insole creased up on me in the toe area, so loosen them up more before you slip them on. Great skate, weight is nice and they look better in person. For instance a size 9.5D in xxx = 9.0D in xxxx. The toe box being widder would justify this? I have not seen any online retailers mention that sizing is different in the new model. I recall seeing that one90 models had a mention that sizing number had changed. Thanks for your thoughts. icedog76
Cavs019 710 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 I honestly think one needs to just try all of them on. In my case......7D XXX 7C One90 7D XXXX. A 6.5 in all 3 of these boots MURDERED my feet. And by murdered, I mean left my big toe deformed from smashing into the toe cap.

Are these going for 700 or 800$ here in Canada. Anybody knows? Thanks

TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 I went half a size smaller than my tacks BUT the tacks were a bit too big for my liking, especially for the right foot(my left foot is almost half a size bigger).

Wolfpack_1986 154 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 I tried the 40's on today, I was a bit disappointed. First I think they are the same, if not more weight than the 30s. This might not be true, jsut an opinion. wait, wait. how is weight difference an opinion. it is what it is, it doesnt change.

djinferno 2 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 i saw them at my lhs today, impressive boot, seems wider then the xxx...I liked the xxv too, similar look...
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 I love how people complain about the weight when 2 years ago they would have been amazingly lightweight. It's also a different boot type than a one90 or s15 and has a ton more padding in the ankle area. The difference in weight would never be noticed on the ice, but the comfort certainly would.I like the look of both the XXXXs and the XXVs but I'm not soo sure about the dark tongue and lower eyelets... not that I'd notice on the ice. My LHS didn't have them in my size anyway.
goldenwolves8 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 i just got mine today and i was a little scared about them being too small but they fit perfectly and they look sooo good
Dangles83 24 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 I've been skating on the skates for 2 weeks now. I like them a lot. I had XXX's before as well and I believe after two weeks the 30's looked more beat up. Aside from the toe caps having a few scratches the skates are perfect. I also believe the xxxx will hold up longer because they don't flex as much as the XXX's did because of the flex notch, this boot is a bit stiffer. How was the fit compared to the XXX....Dead on?I sized a bunch of kids in the 40's a couple weeks ago and most dropped .5 to 1 size from their 30's.I just got my XXXX's in and I purchased the same size as I had in the XXX (9D), as per the NBH site, but they feel a bit too big. I am going in to my LHS tonight and trying on a smaller pair..
Mario123 2 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 It's funny someone else mentions that they seem bigger than the XXX. Does anyone know for sure if they actually fit bigger than the XXX?
t1tan 19 Report post Posted May 7, 2007 Tried on some XXXX's yesterday at Gunzo's here in the Chicago area. Man were they nice, but I just can't decide now, XXXX or One90, the 40 felt great as the One90 did, but since the One90 wasn't molded and a half size too big, I didn't have any ankle support giving me 1 reason to like the 40s, 2nd reason being I have a thick foot and the XXXX's seemed to support that better. The 8.5s felt good, really good, especially being D width because I thought I'd for sure need Es since I wear a wide Graf skate, but I was suprised at the comfort I felt. I tried 8.5 in One90 because that's all they had around my size and they felt good, just too long. Another thing, weight wise, with XXXX on left and One90 on right, I felt no weight difference. So now I just have to sell my Graf Supra 705s, perfect condtion, hardly used with some stuff /end plug, :P and decide 480 for XXXX or 525 for One90. Shawn in Tampa 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 It's funny someone else mentions that they seem bigger than the XXX. Does anyone know for sure if they actually fit bigger than the XXX?I can GURANTEE you on my normal width, normal everything foot, that the 9D XXXX was wider and longer than the 9D XXX. poukali 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I was debating between the one90 and the vapor xxxx as i wanted to get into a stiffer skate with more ankle support, so went to my LHS and decided to try on both pairs of skates to see which one fit my foot best. Please note that I am coming from Vapor XXX's which i wore in a 7.5D. Well first the fit, the one90's i found to be just far too tight in the foot after trying on three different sizes and two different widths. I found that the fit in the ankle just did not fit around my foot properly, no matter what size and and widths i tried the fit just never felt right. After realizing that the one90's were not gonna happen for me, i proceeded to try on the vapor XXXX's. I started off with a 7D and found them to be a little tight and a little long which really suprised me. So I went down to 6.5 2EE which to my shock fit perfectly and extremely comfortably. After having these baked I must admit that I love the added support and padding in the ankle and the new toe box is a blessing. It is much wider and an welcomed change from the old XXX. Yes they are a lot stiffer than the XXX's which I personally like. The skate was very comfortable, I really must give NBH credit that they did improve on an already great skate.Keep in my just becuase the one90's did not fit me well does not mean they are a great skate, they simply were not the skate that fit my foot the best.Unfortunately I will not have an opportunity to skate on them until tomorrow so I can give you my thoughts on Weds so I am praying that the all the improvements in the vapor translate out on the ice.As always though, I highly suggest that when ever purchasing a high end skate please try make sure you go to your LHS and have the staff take the time to properly fit the skate to your foot.pouk
Cavs019 710 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Does the fact that there is no consistency with sizes with these two skates between any two people suggest that you have to be utterly insane to buy them online? I sure think so.
TBLfan 25 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Just to add I changed my mind and traded mine out for a smaller size. Instead of my toes brushing the toe cap I wanted them a little more crammed to eliminate free space, I'm now down 2 1/2 sizes from my street shoes.

ultraman7k 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 i went from a size 7 in v12's to a 6.5 in XXXX.Such a good skate, of course, a lot stiffer than my v12's and i can feel the ice a lot better.
Mario123 2 Report post Posted May 8, 2007 wow, that's crazy guy's. I'm surprised that Nike/Bauer didn't put a disclaimer out for previous XXX owner's. I'm wearing a 7D in my XXX's. I wonder if I can fit in the 6.5D's. On my XXX's, the lightspeeds are size 263. If I fit into 6.5 XXXX's, the holder's are 254. Will this really screw up my balance on the ice? My skates have always had 263's.
