Alternate Jerseys in Playoffs?

Bufflo's been wearing their third 'Throwback' jerseys in the playoffs from time to time this year. Thought there was a rule or something saying in some form that teams couldn't do that. Appearantly there's not, or they wouldn't be. But just curious if anyone else knows more about it.

Why should that be illegal or not allowed? I mean why should that be something which is not good or have any other reason it should be denied.

As long as it is dark, the road team doesn't have to care. They bring their road whites. No thirds next year and white will be home again.

that's basically what I figured JR, but thank goodness Nashville's third is no longer. That's right, VAN did it too. I know it don't make much of a difference, just thought it was something that just wasn't done in playoffs. Oh well, Just a thought.

whats with the changing of which jersey is home and which is away every few years now? i like the dark jerseys as home jerseys. at least there wont be 3rd jerseys anymore, most of them are god awful

They tried out the darks again for the first time in a while. I guess it didn't go over well (Since you don't see the different coloured jerseys as a season ticket holder) and they are going back to the whites.

ultimately its doesnt matter its just a jersey, as long as 3rd jerseys are done away with im happy... i think buffalo should make their 3rd jersey there regular road jersey tho

I must be in the minority, but I liked NSH 3rd. I even own an authentic. Only problem with it is that it is a thick jersey - players did not like wearing them.

The problem is that when the "white" jersey is used on the road and a player gets blood on it, there usually isn't a backup jersey for the player to switch into. I know many equipment managers complained about this to the NHL and it looks like they will get their way.

I've never bled on a dark jersey before, didn't think about that.

not league policy but league rules. You cant play in any equipment that has any blood on it for health and saftey reasons regardless of the colour of the jersey. not sure in the NHL but in all leagues over here its any player/goaltender/official who is clearly bleeding must leave the playing surface until the bleeding stops and the wound is covered. makes sense to me.

Obviously, the eq mgr can wash out the blood and won't look as bad as it would if it were on white. It would just look wet.

I think that's terrible, I like the Dark as home. 90% of the dark jerseys look better than the light.

By having the darks at home you see the same colors on the ice every game. It's your team wearing their color and the visitor always wearing white. By returning to home whites, you have a little variety. Personally, I like the move.
