Gas prices

Recommended Posts

So Modsquadhockey has members from all around the globe so let's see who gets robbed and who gets a better deal. Ehhhh, now that i think about it, we all get robbed buy those as*holes, no doubt. Whose going to win the lowest price award? Texans? Europeans? Defenatly not Canadians i think.

Here we go: May 22 2007, Magog, Québec, Canada: Varies from 110.3 to 121.4/liter.

If my calculs are correct, this means 4.18 to 4.60/gallon.

(1 gallon [uS, liquid] = 3.785 411 8 liters.)

It was about $3.50 last week, but I saw it for $3.30 at Costco today. A buddy of mine paid $4.00 in downtown San Fran when he was driving through it last week.

I may get flamed.. but I wish gas prices would go higher. We need to change our habits and since I'm not one of those lefty "freedom as long as I agree" types, I'm glad it's the market thats causing the shift in peoples opinions and consumption habits instead of government and sheryl crowe.

Its been steadily increasing until the past month or so where it has plateaued to about $3.50 per gallon. The lowest I've seen for a while was 2 christmas ago at $2.05. I guess that was a present to us from the government.

Stop complaining, you could be charged what we are over in the UK.

The government puts that much tax on gas we are about 95p per litre.

So that would work out about $9.00 per gallon.

Now whose the lucky ones!

São Paulo, Brazil:

Gas: US$4.92 / gallon

Ethanol: US$3.18 / gallon

Though cheaper than regular gasoline, ethanol is 30% less efficient. A lot of the cars here are "Flex", meaning they take gas, ethanol, and any mixture of the two.

One little point of contention.

Back home its petroleum, over here, its gasoline.

Gasoline over here, in my Hyundai sante fe, I get 18mpg city, 26 highway

1 gallon of gas here in DC = $3.09

$3.09 = 18 miles, as my commute is all city driving.

That means I pay $0.17 per mile here

Back home in Ireland, it is about 1.02 euro per litre = 3.83 a gallon

At todays rate, one euro is = to $1.34

SO, 3.83 is about $5.13 per gallon.

However, I also got close to 50 mpg in my car back home.

$5.13 = 50 miles

That means I pay $0.10 per mile back home, which is 70% less than it is over here

Anyone confused yet?

$1.22/L here in Central Newfoundland today. My friend is a manager at a gas station here, he said to not be surprised if prices to hit $1.40 by the end of summer. That hurts.

Here's a pretty handy site called Gas Buddy ..it's worth a look
