Moment of Stupidity

Recommended Posts

Here are two...

After an away game, our equip. manager left all of our jerseys in a bag outside of the other college's rink. After we returned home a few hours later he went to get the jerseys off of the bus and realized that he left them all at the game. He only told me and another captain that he had done this. He called the rink, and they found the bag sitting on the sidewalk in front of the rink. He ended up paying to have the jerseys overnighted.

Another one...Two summers ago, I got pretty tanked prior to playing a summer league game. I ended up dropping the gloves for something that I probably started in my drunkedness, and I proceded to throw numerous uppercuts that repeatedly landed. In my vague rememberance, I recall winding up to throw a massive hook, which completely missed, and I fell flat on my face and split my chin wide open...a good 3/4" split....bled all over the place. I popped right back up and fired away again, but in the end I looked like I got beaten pretty badly even though this guy didn't land a punch!

no and you know it doesn't count because we decided not to shot from half ice and the blue line every shot.

i got another one, the first time i played some street hockey (always played ice before that), i put on my brand new skates and decided to skate around the first floor of my house for a little. well since im used to playing ice, when i needed to stop i stopped like i would on ice. BIG MISTAKE. i flew forward and fell on my wrist (i thought i broke it) if thats not enough when i got up and skated off the pain, i did the same thing again, but luckily i got used to it

I once forgot to put on my cup...... It was still in my bag. I skated through 50 mins of practice then it came time to scrimmage. I hopped over the boards after a shift and thought "Hey that felt different..... Holy shit, I ain't jumping in front of shots anymore tonight"

Went to hop over the boards coming back onto the bench and fell. Got up, went to hop over, and my foot goes out from under me again. I guess I figured the old saying "third time's a charm" is true I try again, only to end up on my butt once again. One of the guys on the bench leans over the boards and asks "why don't you just use the door?"

Who knows what I was thinking.

I had a friend growing up who was infamous for forgetting equipment or showing up late. His best though was when he and his mom drove to the wrong town for a hockey game. To make it even better they chose a town of 100 people with no ice rink.

They probably found the only town in all of southern Manitoba without an ice rink...

I had a friend who was late for a game.

So we ended calling him on his private phone.

On the phone he told us that he was in his car driving to the rink.

We then told him we were calling him on his private number not on his cell phone, and that he absolutely couldn't be on the way to the rink :-D

My personal moment was playing a complete game without a cup and realizing it after the game.

Never got hit in that area though :-)

Being only 5'8", some rinks have pretty tall boards to jump. About once a month or so, I tag my boys going over.

on tuesday a guy on my team had just finished a shift

as he goes to go back on he starts looking for his helmet(on his head)

then he finds his gloves, goes to find his stick, which was with his gloves, and keeps looking until somebody points it out, then trips over on the court

at regional trials i have seen a guy forget an elbow pad and proceed to strap an old cup to his elbow with stick tap so he could pass kit checks

and i constantly forget my helmet before training, luckily the place i train is walking distance from my house

did it again tonight. just as i was getting off the exit for the rink, I realized I had left my jock, socks, and jerseys in the dryer.

I made it home and back and only missed like 3 minutes of the first.

It was during a scrimmage at a practice so I was only using a wood stick, still hurt and I was pulling splinters for a week.
