How many more of those things can you possibly have?

Nobody else uses the damn things anymore, he has them all.

I haven't even seen one in years; that's why I ask. Once he breaks what he has, he'll be hard-pressed to find any more. Christ, I can't believe there are seven left in existence.

Out of curiosity, could the added velocity on your slappers with the 9K-O be due to a loss of pop in the flyweights? (I don't doubt the analysis of it having a high kickpoint, just something that came to mind when I read that) Have you recently tried any other new sticks?

No. The Fly I've been using the most lately is the newest one - it doesn't have a paint job on it. I've used other sticks the past few years, but always went back to the Fly when I was done with them.

JR, I don't see it possible for the O Stick to weigh any more than 440 grams and you said your flyweight was much lighter. Maybe for some reason your 9k is heavier than mine was because mine felt easily lighter than that. They could have started making them heavier because they were breaking too easy, who knows. Off course I'm sure the listed weight is probably lighter than what it really is and you actually weighed yours yourself (right?), so it's the true weight. Any chance you could weigh your 9k?

but JR, you said the flyweight was a twig. 440g doesnt sound too much like a twig, though it is light.

It was lighter than anything that followed for the better part of a decade.

A TRUE 440g with an endplug and a wood blade?

There isn't much lighter out there, trust me.

Here's a bulletin...what mfgrs list weights are aren't exact..

Hey JR... When I talked to the Concordia equipment manager when he was in town playing us back in October and I was looking at all there 9KO's.. he said surprisingly they weren't breaking where the holes were, but most of them at the heel and hosel area. Alot on the heel. I guess only time will tell.

Eagle OPS listed weight seemed to be pretty darn exact based on the topic a long while back.

Well, yes, because the guy behind the stick knows what's up. Plus there's no marketing behind that stick - it's a SMU.

But I dare you to take every stick in a LHS and weigh it. I did that once. And they were pretty much 20-30g heavier than advertised across the board.

Regardless, back to topic.

Balance is more important than the actual weight anyways. If you hand me a well balanced 450g stick, I'll still take it over a 400g stick that has 45% of its weight in the blade.

Anyways, with the 9K, I wonder if it feels heavier because of bad balance or it just weighs more than your average OPS (Around 460g+). Looking forward to more impressions JR, so we can see if the hype is warranted.

well if you think about how the "holes" are constructed, there is more surface area than if it was a slat surface. Depending on how thick the walls are in that area could mean the same or more weight in that area... despite looking like it would weigh less.

If they haven't changed the blade type from last years models, i really dont see the point in spending that much money on the stick. I got a few 6k with 2 blade deals off hockey monkey around february, and every single one of the 6 blades broke in the same way, a crack from the heel of the blade on the backhand side uptowards the middle of the blade and across, all within 3-4 weeks of playing 3 times a week.

Yesterday I weighed a 9K vs a SE and the 9k was 1 oz heavier. As others have said, it's not necessarily the weight rather the balance and feel and more importantly the performance, so let's see just how it performs over the long run once it hits the market.
