1998 Easton Catalog BS- Before Synergy!

Recommended Posts

I used to love those ultra lites when I was younger...I went through a few of them until I was 18 or so and had to start buying my own sticks lol

And the T-flex graphite with Modano blade was probably one of my favorite sticks...too bad I snapped it within a month as a 150lb 16 year-old and couldn't warranty it cause I had it sitting around for a while before I started using it

I had that Z core which looked like the ultra lite with the aluminum tip...it was OK but I much preferred the UA's

I just checked the catalog. The Junior shafts were not given flex numbers yet the way the Senior shafts were. The shaft flex is listed as "Stiff."

A friend of mine just gave me a couple of these shafts unused and in excellent condition although they've been sitting in his basement for years. So I was wondering if they're worth putting on a wood blade for my son who's in squirt. I did see the word Stiff and the weight (280 grams).

I think the shafts are A-Ok for a squirt. If anybody asks, tell them Brian Leetch is your son's favorite player. He used that shaft forever.

I just remember how annoying as hell it was that Easton did not make composite t-flex blades available for retail. Damn I was happy when I got a bunch of the pro stock Forsberg ones at United Cycle back in the day. What a great combo that was.

Then when they finally had retail composites, they only put out one pattern and sold them for maybe one year.

As for the junior UL flex, my guess is 65 as that had been their standard for a while.

Way old thread, but I just dug itup and it got me excited!

I love my A/G 7000, and saw a 7100 for sale and wouldn't mind pickling it up. Does anyone know why the 7000 is 100gms lighter than the 7100? Was the 7100 a lesser model?

Thanks for posting this up by the way, great to reminisce. I wanted those Z-Ait gloves so bad when I was young!

The Tkaczuk was pretty much identical to the yzerman curve of later years. It was the first blade I ever bought to go into the first non aluminium/wood stick I ever bought, which was an UL 110.

I read an article recently on tsn that showed where loads of old players have ended up. I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: couldn't find the article but here's his profile page. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?i...amp;hubname=nhl

RE-EDIT: found it!! http://tsn.ca/columnists/scott_cullen/?id=...s=headlines_nhl

Apparently he's playing in Duisberg in Germany now.

Stats for this season....Daniel Tkaczuk, 3goals-8assists-11points, minus-37, 34 PIM in 37 games

Whoa - I had no idea there was such love for the older Easton stuff (besides those funky gloves from the 90's).

I have 2 of the pictured below Easton TFlex sticks buried away somewhere & I think my spring cleaning will be more of a T-Flex T100 treasure hunt. If my memory serves me right, they tapered blades that were available at the time were gawd awful. I used to file-down Christian blades to make 'em work in the tapered shaft...they broke all the time - but were awesome anyway.

Here's what I'm talking about;

FWIW: this was the only shaft I actually liked back in the day. Tried many other aluminum shafts and even a few carbon ones (Bauer I think), none had the feel & shot the old Easton had. Damn...I'm gonna start looking for it now (hope it's not at my mom's place - no way I'd find it there).

[/memory lane]

I had one of those aluminium t-flex. Still kickin around somewhere. I think my neighbour might have it. Needed a really long butt end in mine though and it constantly fell out. Great stick though, when it stayed in one piece for me.

This thread brings back so many memories. I still have 2 of those 85 flex Z-bubbles and they still get used from time to time. The Leetch pattern used to be my blade of choice, I then went to a Sakic but it was more like the Forsberg of today (I still have an old carbon one and it's nothing at all like the modern Sakic blades, pretty weird).

I miss those old shafts of the 90's, everything now seems too flashy.

I wonder how many of those listed are also listed in the Mission pro stock blades from HM thread......

I had to go back to my Z-Bubbles the other night. I've got focus flex blades in them- holy hell my shot is fantastic with these things. Just amazing what ten year old technology can accomplish. Not to take away from my ops- I get some great wristers off of it, but I was really blown away with the Bubbles' performance after a while of not using them.
