Buying A New Stick

Recommended Posts

I know you guys have a lot of these threads already regarding new sticks but I need some help

Ok I am looking to buy a new OP stick. I am looking for a stick that is light, durable and also grippy. I don't break sticks to often but I don't want a brand new stick to break on the first use. The most important part about the stick that I want is that it has a soft (I don't know if soft is the right term) blade that will make it easier to handle the puck and catch passes (pretty much has a good feel for the puck). I was looking at the stealth and the XXX lite, but then there are the new warriors, but there are so many mixed reactions I am kind of confused with the Warriors. Also what about the Mission Fuel Stick... is it supposed to be any good? Finally (I guess this is more the blade then the stick) I am looking for a blade that is good for quick snapshots and wrist shots, I don't get to take slapshots much in games. Also if this helps I am 5ft 5" and I only weigh 125 pounds, so I am looking for INT. sticks.

Thanks in advanced for your help. :)

P.S. Right now I am using a Synergy ST with a Iginla blade and 65 flex. And the Price dose not matter, it can be expensive or inexpensive.

if you are looking for a stick with good feel, grippy, and durable, try to find a mission pulse grip. i never have owned a fuel, but i have played with one, and i found the pulse to have a better feel for the puck. as for pattern, that is 100% PP and you should stick with what pattern you have (or as similar as possible), or roll the dice on a new pattern and hope you like it.

I'd agree with the One90 grip, though that grip is still ridiculous. It might be cheaper to get a Dolomite with grip though, just don't get the new nipple kind.

Take a look at the Warrior Mcdaddy Nipple Grip. I have been trying sticks out and have a Mission Pulse, Mission Fuel Grip and the Warrior. I feel most comfortable with the Warrior but all are very good sticks. Hope this helps

i agree with mack and a2rhino i would also try the one90 with grip, and i would also try a easton synergy elite se grip, or a stealth cnt with grip

None of the One90 Stick'ums I've seen have had the checkerboard style. But I also agree with the stick.

Alright thanks for the replys so far... Looks like a lot of people like the warriors and the One90, I will check them out tommarow at the pro shop. Both of these sticks are supposed to have good feel for the puck right? Also one of my friends had the One70 and hated it, is the One90 completly different? or same model?

Edit: I did some research on the one90 and here is a quote from ePuck "While the Vapor XXX Lite is designed for quicker, faster more finesse shots, the new Supreme One90 is designed for the explosive one-timers and heavy slapshots." Is this really true, or just marketing?

Lastly what about the RBK Sickick is that any good?

Is the pulse a true one?

I don't know that a "true one" actually offers any advantage over a two-piece. I tend to think it is marketing hype more than anything else. But I'm a suspicious type.

sure, there's nothing wrong with two-piece sticks or fused OPS. I think people worry too much about weight, gimmicks and colorful graphics than a quality, well balanced stick with a quality blade.

from my experience - NBH's low-mid range sticks are nowhere near the quality of their high end line. as far as the quote from epuck goes, i feel like the one90 is definitely meant for a heavier shooting player. one timers and slapshots fly off the blade. granted i'm using a one90 shaft with an Easton Z-Carbon blade. great combo.

the one90 has a higher kickpoint which means your release on wristers will not be quite as quick, but you'll likely have a harder slapshot.

as for nipple grip, I've got an AK27 nipple grip and it's not too bad as far as the grippiness. It's got the ridges plus a soft grip on top of it, but the soft grip peels pretty quickly/easily.

Ok I have been doing some more research on the warriors, I have hear that the MacDaddy is just a Vapor XXX paintover (is that true?) and that the Dolo has blade durability issues along witht he Royal... So which Warrior would I buy?

And has anyone had any experience with a TPS Response?

Also no one has said anything about the stealth or a synergy.

A warrior mac daddy is a not a painted over vapor XX. But inno made bauer sticks and once warrior bought inno the inno stick were repainted as warriors. The warrior mac daddy is a Inno true 1 and that equates into a vapor XXX. Not vapor XXX lite. I loved the feel of the mac daddy and i loved the nipple grip because i perffer a textured grip.

As for the dolo i would get the dolomite nipple grip shaft and a dolo blade. If the blade starts to chip or you do not like the feel of the blade you can heat it up and change the blade on it.

If you're still at the point where you don't know what to get, and are looking for info on more sticks, your best bet would be to do a few searches and also check out the stick reviews. There are far too many sticks on the market; if you ask about them all, this thread could go on for months before you finally make a decision. There's a wealth of knowledge on the board, it's just a matter of knowing where to look. If you need any search tips, feel free to PM me.

but I'll throw you a bone:

I've got an original Response and an Adrenaline, and really like the kick on the TPS sticks, especially for my slapshots/snapshots. Everyone who's had one raves about the XN10s as well, but good luck finding one at this point. The R8 lite looks to be a very nice stick from what I've read.

Eastons always seem to have very good to great performance, but often lack in terms of durability.

i think that you should really consider the one90 grip, it has been modified from the old one90 and with your gloves on the grip feels really good, not to grippy.
