Why are they not busting ass to sign anyone? Have they decided to say to hell with it? Mike York???? Are you kidding me? You know things are bad when you have teams in NC and TN. No disrespect to them making deals while the GREAT ONE is sitting on his hands watching it all happen. Someone please clear this up for me.

Mike York is a good player who wasn't given ice time on Long Island once Nolan came in as the coach and same thing in Philly. He had good numbers with the Rangers, Oilers and the one season under Peter Laviolette. He could produce around 15 goals and 30 assists if given ice time.

What I mean by this is that they have the money and they COULD have the fans if they got some good talent and or at least were trying to get some talent. My point about NC and TN is that they are FAR from what would be considered hockey towns in the sense that not a lot of peeps from the NE and Midwest are moving there. Where as here in AZ they have an incredible ice hockey following with the people that are moving here daily from these areas not to mention all the Canadians moving here. It just burns my ass thats all. Again; no disrespect to TN or NC.

People not moving South from the NE? There has been a major influx of Northerners to the south for the Past 10 Years. Im not trying pick a fight A2, just making a valid point.

Back on topic :)

You know things are bad when fans in non-traditional markets bash fans in other non-traditional markets.

There are plenty of people who don't think hockey belongs south of NYC or Chicago. I'm not one of them, but don't fuel their fire.

I think this has more to do with the team itself rather than being a "hockey town." Phoenix, the team, sucks. Is this news to anyone? I'm glad some people aren't going there just because they may have tossed some money to them.

I've given up on the management of the team by now. Its going to be very tough getting fans in the arena with the roster they are putting on the ice. Its a shame because there is a strong fan base here, but the disappointment just keeps building and building.

While this season's roster doesn't look too promising theres still a light a the end of the tunnel. There are some solid prospects at the forward position. A deal for a goalie will help this team, as will shoring up the defense. I have a feeling Turris may spark change when hes ready to come to the big club. The kid has loads of passion, and from what I've heard and seen I believe he is going to be a franchise player with a great attitude.

Smart move by all the management. What would adding one or two top of the list FA's from this summer do for them? Guess what, they still wont be able to compete with anyone in their division, let alone the rest of the conference. Point being, phoenix isnt wasting any money on what will probably be useless signings. They might tank the next couple of years, but they will get high picks in the draft and that will probably end up most valuable.

I read in an article about Turris I think that the Coyotes game plan is to stop trying to rely on old UFAs who fail them, and build the organization up from within.

The Coyotes have been very candid about the fact that they are DONE signing overpriced and overhyped free agents. They are content to grow the talent they have.

For real fans of the team, the future is very bright. Peter Mueller, Martin Hanzal, Blake Wheeler, Keith Yandle, and now Turris, will be a very good nucleus of talent to build around for the future.

Enver Lisin and Kaigorodov will be in camp and could vie for spots.

Don't be surprised if Al Montoya is on the Yotes roster by opening night.

Of course, Doaner is a main stay. Like him or hate him, he's an awesome vet presence to have on the team. The young guys will learn a lot from him.

The defense has some good young talent, and is also going to be a bright spot for the future. Keith Ballard is so far (arguably) the best defenseman of his draft class - that included Pitkanen and Bouwmeester.

It's just going to take some time. I know people don't like to hear that, but it is what it is.

Hiring Constantine for San Antonio was also a step in the right direction. The guys will get good coaching down there - something that hasn't been happening recently.

I still believe they should have put an effort in the UFA market this year with what was available.

I went to the prospect/rookie camp this morning and there were some promising guys. Wheeler looked pretty good, as did Mueller, and Turris was VERY impressive, but the guy is small. 170 lbs.

Very off topic but my friend made a video with him doing bungees. It was histerical. It was even funnier when he was facing us because he always has a goofyass look on his face.

Late I know, but this is what Minnesota did when they started. Several years of nobodies leads to high draft picks. High draft picks turn to great prospects, which leads to many years of a good team, cheap enough to bring in talent around them, young enough to build around without worrying about a new team each year, and RFA's are tougher to buy away (well, were).
