Wood Sticks?

Recommended Posts

I am getting sick of 1 pieces breaking and i dont really like too many shafts so I am going back to using the good old wood sticks. I was just wondering if any of you still possibly use wood sticks, and if you do which sticks would you suggest? Any comments are appreciated, I would especially like a wood stick that came in a Modano type curve,so keep that in mind about which brands make a curve like that, Thanks.

I am really interested in info like which are the best performing, durability, light weight, best puck feel ( i know, predy much all wood blades have good feel) but out of all the woodies. Info and suggestions in that criteria

Thanks again.

Custom sherwoods have the best feel and durability and they really aren't that expensive.

Any sherwood dealer can hook you up. You can get any option you want including color, curve, length, stiffness, etc...

there's a minimum order to, like you have to order so many sticks to get them custom....i'm almost positive of this. not sure how many though.

Yeah, I should have added that even though it should be obvious. Last I heard it was a daozen.

are league is sponsored by sherwood and we might not be using shafts this year cause sherwood isnt going to do warranty on them anymore but we still might use shafts...so i might have to get woodsticks instead of just blades...are team just goes thru sherwood...we don't pay for our sticks...but you would probably have to go thru your lhs...and you probably have to order a dozen...but for the curve you want...give your lhs the blade you want your curve to be and just tell them what flex and lenght and color...If we don't use shafts...then I am getting my sticks black...as for cost...i am not to sure what it would be cause the league gets them for pretty cheap...but for you it would be worth it cause you will have your curve the way you want it all the time...no wasted time on curving it the way you want it all the time...

Honestly, I would go Flarrow rather then Sherwood. They are made in the same factory and basically the 5030 Flarrow is basically a 9050, and their customs are cheaper. Great guys to deal with too.

The Z-Carbon's are nice, but they are a bit expensive, and personally, i think it kind of takes away from the whole point of why a lot of people buy wood sticks, the feel, and when you put a composite, well mostly composite, blade down there, it kind of eliminates that...and i dont like the feel of hybrids(blades)a as it is.

I wouldn't be so sure that they're the same. Back when Chimo was made by SherWood, the SherWood sticks were better.

just got mine, custom SOP 5030s

gave them my own curve, paid 40 cdn a stick min order of 12 sticks

specified everything from paint (which they screwed up) to length.

awesome sticks, just that sherwood messed up on some small points on the stick.

I haven't seen wood stick prices in a while, but I think thats about right. From the little I've seen they are around $35ish, so $5 a stick for customs isn't bad.

Check out the Jofa ASD 8050 series as well (8055 is xx-stiff, 8050 is x-stiff and 8045 is stiff), they're really nice and resemble the old Titans pretty much with their rounded edges. These are my favorite wooden sticks.

u sure they werent just reg. 5030s for $30CDN and Not SOP's?

The were retails but IMO custom should be the same price if not slightly cheaper because u have to order 12 at a time.

The one shop in town has their own custom curve that they sell in RH and LH. They're $32 US each. I would expect to pay a similar price if I ordered up a dozen on my own. You won't get any kind of discount because you're buying 12. You're buying 12 to compensate them for the extra time they have to spend making your curve.

Are you sure SherWood is making Flarrow's sticks? Flarrow just bought the Christian name and stick plant, they were supposed to retool it and get it back up and running. Not sure if it's open yet, anyone know?
