Eric Lindros Nordiques jersey

Fun bit of trivia regarding that jersey. Lindros famously refused to go on stage and put on the Nordiques jersey.......that particular jersey ended up being a collector's item and is owned by Peter Forsberg.

Heatley was drafted #2 after DiPietro - who has turned into a franchise goalie

If I recall correctly, I remember seeing a couple blips where Milbury would have drafted Gaborik over Heatley. That draft was kinda interesting in that DiPietro had the choice of not waiting until 2001. The 2001 featured two other highly touted goalies (Pascal Leclaire/Dan Blackburn) and there were indications that DiPietro might be taken behind those two. So DiPietro and his advisors thought it might be better to opt into the 2000 draft (and forfeit his college eligibility) and guarentee to be a top 10 pick.

DiPietro announced his intentions in May and at that point the Islanders were slated to pick 5th overall. They had zeroed in on Raffi Torres with the 5th overall pick but were now hot on the DiPietro trail. In early June, they won the draft lottery and suddenly possessed the top pick.

They fell in love with DiPietro's demeanor and stickhandling and decided to take him over Gaborik/Heatley. They also traded Kevin Weekes, a prospect named Kristian Kudroc, and a future pick to Tampa for the 5th overall pick to take Raffi Torres as they had intended before DiPietro declared/winning the lottery.

This was compounded by the Islanders trading Roberto Luongo AND Olli Jokinen for Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha. Milbury had some unhealthy obsession with Kvasha and had tried to acquire him on several occasions to that point. They threw Luongo into the fire too soon with a terrible team in front of him, and Milbury decided it was somehow Luongo's fault.

So the Islanders could have had: Gaborik-Jokinen-Luongo

The Islanders ended up with: Parrish-Kvasha-DiPietro

Beauchamin (CBJ) in Montreal. Letting him get away via waivers was a bit of a gaff by the Habs.

Do you mean Bagwell?

wow, that was bad huh? i can't even make an excuse.

Oh, mack, you're giving him too much credit. He's been a lifelong fan since 2004, you know :)

i will admit that the bagwell trade was before my time, heck i wasn't even born yet. but i really started paying attention to the redsox and baseball in general around 2001, i am no bandwagon fan. i know people who jumped on in 04 and they suck.

Denis Potvin jersey at Madison Square Garden.

I did that during an Islanders/Ranger game at the Garden, seats first row behind the ranger bench on the aisle, so I was right behind their coach. I was 14 or 15 and figured "what are they going to say to a kid?"... man was I wrong lol made it a great time when they won though :)

Here's a few:

Pronger Ducks in Edmonton

Bertuzzi 'Nucks in Denver

Gomez Rangers in New Jersey

Briere Flyers in Buffalo

Any Sens Jersey in Toronto and Visa Versa

Onestly, when I went to watch the Leafs vs. Sens in Ottawa, there were actually more leafs fans there with leafs jerseys than sens fans with sens jerseys.

Note: this was in '03 before the sens started winning and people joined the bandwagon.
