Did anyone see the NAACP defending Vick today? Wow, they can just do no right anymore. They look terrible constantly.

No, I can't say I did see that, but I can't say the news surprises me, either.

So now we just have to wait for Al Sharpton to stick his nose into this mess and we'll really have it made - I can only imagine where this thing would go if we were to find-out that Vick is gay and has made generous contributions to Planned Parenthood.

Yes, that's one of the reasons for my thinking this will start having race brought into it.

There was a columnist from the AJC on TV yesterday saying that Vick was the most polarizing figure in sports and those who backed him through the Ron Mexico situation, the water bottle problem and the fan fingers are still behind him now.

Part of the head of the NAACP's release was "a lot of people love their dogs, but a lot of people love Mike Vick"

So there you go, that's what you have to do when thinking about killing something. Does your own popularity outweigh that of what you're killing.

Using their rationale it's totally fine to have Michael Vick drowned, electrocuted and beaten. Real think tank they have.

...has made generous contributions to Planned Parenthood.

He used the Ron Mexico alias to contribute. :)

*warning - weird baseball analogy below*

Yeah, but the situation surrounding that legal episode would indicate that Vick is, indeed, a raging heterosexual...which is why I have to overlook it: if this "stand-up double" is going to turn into a "tater", he's going to have to be a closet homo.

How is he right? to any extent?

we don't say anything about people who shoot deer or shoot other animals.

Right there.

dogs are very intelligent and smarter than game animals

dogs are domesticated and trainable for functions in society

hunted animals are not tortured, they are killed quickly and as mercifully as possible

hunted animals are most often eaten as food, not just killed for no reason

sport hunting is already considered a questionable practice

game animals are not pitted against each other in bloody, cruel combat

game animals live in the wild and are not caged their entire lives and brutalized to make them meaner

Sadly that may be the best call. If they've been trained to fight there's no way they're going to have a place in any kind of domestic situation.

Did anyone else see Roy Jones Jr. babbling on about Jesus and & Vick and "brothers & sister in Christ..." who can't let dogs come between them and make them hate.

Crazy shit.

Vick's plea deal might be getting thrown out since he won't admit to killing any dogs or betting on them. The betting is what will give him the automatic NFL ban.

Not sure if anyone is watching the open forum discussion (though it's in Atlanta, hello racial and hometown bias) it's interesting to see people try to justify why he'll (possibly) play again in the NFL.

I think he'll be given the chance to come back but would he want to? He will be booed (and worse) more than cheered and I can't see him winning back anyone who's against him. Come on, it's not like he was that great of a QB before this and I doubt he'll find a cure for cancer anytime soon.

Jesus Christ, a sports host talked about how Vick can't come back to ATL because of how he's shamed himself there, lied to the ownership, coaches, etc. and the barrage of boobirds came out, followed by "FREE VICK! FREE VICK!" chants.

I forget where or who the quote came from, but it echoes:

"In order to convince bigoted white people to stop lumping all African-Americans together into one category, intelligent, responsible African-Americans must stop defending African-Americans who do stupid or reprehensible things."

This may be the funniest thing I've ever seen, not even just for its socioeconomic material it's given me.

A lady stands up and asks what the difference between this (Vick's problem) and what Belichick did. The crowd went all Arsenio Hall and cheered, like there really isn't a difference. You know, a huge gaping federal crime difference.

In a "by applause" poll in this crowd (Atlanta, natch) the majority applauded when asked if dogfighting should not be a felony. Oh dear.
