Don't see why Detroit couldn't do this...

I can see the headline...

The NHL announced today a new $10,000/year fee for shinpads, citing the fact that the brands are now visible through white socks. This fee is less than the usual $25k per piece of equipment since a majority of teams only use white socks half the time.

Interesting:

"Enforcer Cam Janssen might have injured his shoulder tonight because of the league’s new Reebok Edge sweaters. His sweater ripped during his two first period fights with Philadelphia’s Jesse Boulerice. That might have helped Boulerice pull Janssen’s jersey over his head in both altercations and win both decisively. Arron Asham also had his sweater tear during his fight with Riley Cote.

"These new jerseys are supposed to make you faster, but what good are they if they tear that easily,” Mike Rupp said."

I knew this would happen, I say abolish fights...

No room for these monkeys anymore...

haha a little harsh I think Captain. Those "monkeys" make a living doing what they do and if they were "monkeys" wouldn't be on the team whether you think so or not thats why you aren't an NHL GM.

If you're not joking, which i hope to god you are; even though as a leafs fan who has to hate janssen, I'd much rather have fights than new jerseys

if the refs aren't protecting them and the players aren't allowed to protect themselves or their teammates then who will?

not too mention it will become all stick work if fighting is gone

and american audiences for the NHL will also diminish

Two first period fights with one guy and 3 in the third period?

I don't watch a lot of pre-season hockey (not many televised), but why so many scraps?

What's tearing on the jerseys, the fight strap? the neck?

I heard Laraque ripped Archer's jersey in a fight last night as well.

Was that before or after he smashed his face to crap? I feel sorry for Archer...he's been a decent D-Man in the A...but he's hurt WAY to much.

Just a quick note about the rangers jerseys. It seems as if the photo everyone was going off earlier in this thread may have only been a prototype to some extent and that's the reason there has been aboslutely nothing on the the rangers site or nhl.com about their jerseys. If you head over the the official rbk edge jersey site you can view the jerseys for every team, and when you look at the rangers one they have very clearly moved the positioning of the word "RANGERS" back to where it should be, instead of the tightened/to the side script that we saw in the leaked photos. Even though it didn;t really bother me the way it was ni the first photo we saw, I'm extremely glad to see it has been fixed. They look awesome.

The more I look at them...I like more of them than I hate.

What's the "250" patch on the shoulder of the Pens jersey? I can't make it out on TV or any of the pictures I've seen?

Seems like they are going with this one....

I wish that was the one that they went with. the actual ones are like "huh?"

Seriously?!

That boggles my mind. This is one of the ugliest fan concepts that ever showed up.

i would have gone on a rampage if this was our jersey... if you were at the Teal and White game, or saw players in the jerseys, then you'll understand why they're not bad...

Sometimes all those fancy-pants form-fitting fabrics = less give. The Edge jersey I've felt up taken a look at had several deformations from pulls and tugs, and the "play-dri" material was particularly tightly wound. The Edge jerseys definitely make obstruction more visible, but I fully expect a) guys to go to larger sizes and B) some of the materials to be revised. Despite all Reebok's claims about making this jersey absolutely, positively perfect, it's getting its first NHL use, and it's probably going to go through several generations, just like any other piece of equipment, before it's less prone to tears and "pull" marks.

As for the Wings, JR, I'd imagine Hahn's, "We had to move the 'A' and 'C' because they're on seams" = "Well, we didn't change much, and we had to sell the damn things to the people who went out and got Bertuzzi jerseys because they were 'new,' you know, bells and whistles..."

That's true. They're starting to grow on me.

No they definitely are staying with colours at home for this season however it's been rumoured that there is a plan to make the home jerseys the white one's again in the future. Personally I don't have a preference either way but i suppose if i really had to choose i'd go with whites at home just because I like the history of the league.

I had a thought though that the transition back to white home jerseys may be planned for sooner than we expect. Maybe it is a known fact to certain people that maybe in the 08-09 they will change back. This could be a good explanation of Dallas' new "home" jersey. It would make far more sense to have the town name on the away jersey. Maybe Star's management knows of future plans and decided to design their new jerseys on the basis that this will happen sooner rather than later. Just a thought. Anyone agree?
