Proud of my TEMPORARY restraint

So...I'm in a shop today...and they had a pair of White 9k RBK Pumps. A kid had ordered them and they were essentially Pro skates. They had no size markings on them at all...they had holes in the bottom for drainage, the tongue felt like it may have had some extra padding. The shop guy said when they came in they had a sticker with the kids name on the bottom just like Pro skates do...can't recall exactly how he came to have them...but anyway...

The guy who had them done was coming from Bauers and LOVED the way these looked, but couldn't get used to them once he had them...so the store was selling them for him. They looked like they had barely been skated in.

Regular price was $749.99...they were marked 499.99. I tried them on. Size 7D...fit LIKE A GLOVE. Technically I HAVE the money...and could have bought them...but I didn't. I walked away.

Now, I'm wondering if I have $500.00 worth of stuff I can can sell quickly *L*

A tough decision not to pick up a nice set of blades like that but yes your probably better to leave it alone and save the money for a rainy day. I was becoming a bit of a gear whore myself but I've stayed away from new equipment because it becomes a compulsion. It won't make me play better, so now if it wears out it gets replaced, but not before. I should be good for a least the next two to three years without a problem.

Good for you GaGa, I'm sure you will come across another pair of killer skates and say; Damn I'm happy I waited. I know I did. Had the Kor Shift 2 came out a couple of months ago I never would have gotten the S15's and man am I happy I waited. These are my favorit skates. I will admit though, they are just way to shinny.

I usually like to wait until gear is falling apart/unsafe before I replace, then I buy as good quality as possible.

No, its not. Go into your LHS and tell them you want custom skates.

wow, what a coincidence. I just got a pair of white 9k's, size 7D with holes on the bottom a couple weeks ago and am still trying to get used to them. I was coming from bauers (vapor xxx) as well.

I'll give myself another couple weeks to get used to them before putting them on eBay or something.

they probably fit him fine, RBK's are just alot different coming from bauers and he probably didn't realize that and couldn't get used to them.

More likely they were ordered by just picking the coolest features. Most "custom" skates are more about getting them pimped just the way you want them than they are about tweaking the fit.

Well...I came into some money this weekend, and figured I'd treat myself. So, I went back to the LHS...and they still had those 9k's...and this time I bought them.

AND...they were marked down further...$450.00 all in.

I'm skating tonight. I'll report back afterward.
