The RBK custom fit mouthguard is pretty good. One of the few mouthguards that you can talk, spit, breath, and drink easier than others, it doesn't fall off your teeth, not to mention it protects well too. Since you wear a visor, you don't probably need the super protection the RBK offers, so a Shock Dr Gel max would be fine, also the Gravity, which fits on the bottom teeth. It doesn't fall either.

Get one from your dentist. Seriously. The next time you see your dentist, ask if having a custom mouthguard done would be covered by your dental insurance. If it is, don't hesitate to have a mold done, and eventually, you'll get the best mouthguard you've ever had, for free (or, some sum of money, if it's not covered by insurance),

Unfortunately, that's all I can tell you, as I have yet to request one. I'm sure other modsquad-ers have one, though.

Dentists would make the best mouthguards. Retail, I really like the Gravity Shock Doctor. Goes over your lower teeth, makes breathing and talking much easier. But I wear a cage so the mouthguard's only there to prevent concussion.

If your dentist charges too much, check with any local colleges or trade schools that have courses for dental technology. I know people who have saved a few bucks by going that route.

The Shock Doctor Gravity is a good mouthguard but as it was stated before, it goes over your lower teeth. You mentioned that you use a visor but didn't specify if it was a full or half visor. I would not recommend this with the use of a half visor as you top teeth would be vulnerable. If you have a full visor, go for it.

i would also get one from your dentist, they are alot better then retail mouth gaurds in my opinion, they might be more exspensive but definatly worth it.

Anyone currently using a mouth guard from www.customguards.com ? If so are you using the gladiator pro or elite?

Dental insurance won't cover one from a dentist and these are like half the price. They look decent.

I used to have one made by a dentist like they saud fit was super.

Problem was it was pretty low tech.

I wear a half shield and now I use the shock doctor with string clip. I prefer this as during warmup, sitting on bench and in penalty box I can just let it hang off the string I attached to my chin strap. This also makes it easy to find and insert if I have to jump over the boards in a hurry.

I could not use one that didn't have some mechanism of attchment/leash thingy.

My son has used gladiators and o-pro's. The molding process is much easier with the o-pro. O-pro can be used with most braces. Both will give you a good fit. The top level guards are pretty thick and alot like a boxers mouthpiece. You might not like it that hefty.

From reading the site, it does seem like the custom guards are made for boxers/ufc fighters. Don't need that much protection but the basic seems good. I'll also check out opro. Thanks.

i have a shock doctor gravity and, like most other people have said, its great. i would suggest it. very easy to speak, doesnt slip ("gravity"), and i think it offers good protection as well.

I have a shock doctor pro mouth guard. It is the first one that I've had where I can talk and breathe without any trouble. If you can get a customized one from your dentist, that'd be good choice too.

I am switching to a half shield, so I figured it would be smart to atleast get some protection. I went to my LHs, and they had the reebok elites, shockdoc ultra and gelmax. I opted to go with the gel max, as someone at the store recommended it to me.

So, I brought it home and followed the instructions very carefully. Everything went smooth, but I wasn't satisified with the first fit at all, it was falling right out of my mouth. So, I did it up a second time (which the instructions said were fine), and it basically went to complete shit. The gel was all sucked out, and was so thin near the back teeth, that it basically fell apart. Needless to say, I am pretty pissed that I just dropped $14.

Go to the dentist. They make sport-specific ones.

Mine is very basic but very good.

I definitely plan on getting a custom one ASAP, but I also plan on playing with a half visor before I can get an appointment and the turn around time for getting the thing back. I am probably going to play atleast a dozen times before that happens, so I need something for the short term.

Any recommendations on something that will hopefully atleast stick?

thanks
