Bonds Biographer speaks out

Recommended Posts

HA, you must not have heard me, Baseball to me is on par with GAY MIDGET PORN!

Sure I'll watch it, not because I get off on it but because its a freak show. The same reason why people watch hockey for fights and hits.

No, I heard you. You think that everyone who does steriods has 4% body fat. Barry Bonds has a flabby chest for the sole reason that his inner chest isn't as defined. You think that he's put on exactly two and a half pounds of semi-fatty muscle every year for the last twenty years. And you don't know jack about baseball, but seem to follow the biggest cheater in the league for no apparent reason other than he hits a ball over the fence or doesn't hit it at all (anymore).

There's a freak show mentioned in this discussion, but it's not major league baseball.

Sports are nothing more than entertainment, if some guy wants to cut his life short abusing steroids so he can make more money for his family and better entertain me, than so be it.

By the way what part of Philly are you from, or are you in the general area?

Plus you missed a lot of Bonds if all you watch is playoff baseball. UP TOP!

Actually that was pretty epic.

Although he did play well the year they went to the world series.

One more to tie , two more to beat it. Do you think even if he has the chance to do it on the road he will wait off until he's at home? SanFran seems like the only place he really gets any love.

How come people always bring up Griffey when knocking Bonds?

Hmmmm, what kinda problems come from Steroids/HGH? Lots of ligament problems, lots of muscle tears.

Oh, hey guys, just randomly tearing my hamstring off the bone while jogging home.

because ken griffey jr looks like your average professional baseball player, he didn't go from average to the hulk over the course of a few years.

he won't get a chance to do it on the road, he wants to do it at home, and giants management wants him to do it at home, the only place in the league where he will actually get applauded. really shows you how much of a shit show the giants are.

Griffey was always known as a player who didn't keep himself in the best shape and I have a hard time believing he took steriods and then went and sat around for a few hours a day.

As far as his hamstring, the hamstring tore off the bone when he was sliding to make a play in the outfield. He partially tore it in the play you're thinking about.

I wouldn't even consider bonds to be Normal a few years back. He was skinny , basically a twig.

Rumors are Bonds is also saying he will play next year as well. I don't understand why he won't go to the AL, he would be a devastating DH for 2-3 more years at least. The guy still can get on base better than anyone in baseball.

Not to get off topic but as for the GOAT discussions, sorry guys but Babe Ruth is easily the best hitter of all time, like it's not even a debate. He was so far ahead of everyone else at the time it's ridiculous, he was hitting more HR's than entire teams.

Babe also had more strike outs than anyone. I would also have to say pitching then isn't anywhere near what it is today, guys are just stronger, faster and a lot smarter. Babe was great for his time though.

Well, Bonds will probably HAVE to go to the AL 'cause pretty much everyone involved with the Giants have said they're going to go in a different direction after this year.

He definitely has to go to the AL. Watching him in the series against the Braves was painful, even for someone who's old school hating Bonds and not some bandwagon hater. When he slid in to go for a ball you could practically hear the stadium gasp.

Ruth and Aaron never struck out 100 times in a season, Bonds has. Of course that was before his strike zone become the size of a shoe box.

If he goes to the AL he probably hits 800, just based on not having the daily grind on his knees I could see him back to hitting about 40

Depends on the team. If he goes to someone who don't have anyone to protect him, like SF, he'll just get walked every time there too.

who has more career strike outs, Ruth or Bonds?

Who played in an era where umpires reduced the size of the strike zone so much they had to be reprimanded? Who played a large portion of their career wearing body armor? Who played when managers weren't pussies and actually pitched to batters?

Who played in an era where an entire team threw THE WOLRD SERIES for money and almost destroyed MLB?

very good point with the negro leagues, I agree with that

look what he did at that weight/condition. Imagine what he could have done in reasonable shape.

As opposed to playing during (not to mention being a major part of) the biggest scandal to rock the sport since the black sox scandal?

The scandals around ruth revolved around womanizing and partying, at least Bonds got part of it right.

I'm not saying what you've said about Barry's Era is wrong, I'm just saying that every era has its *.

After Barry is finished with playing he'll still be looked into, the investigations as to what went on with him and baseball itself will carry on and if something turns up that proves he knowingly took steroids then I say remove him from the history books.

How do you remove a guy from the record books? You can't and that's exactly what Bonds is counting on. Selig is just screwed because if he does something without the feds making a move, it's simply because of his friendship with Aaron to most people. If he waits and then the feds make a move after the record falls (look for it to happen this fall) then Selig looks bad because he let Bonds break the record while playing dirty. Either way, the numbers are there and people have to deal with it and that's all Barry cares about.

IF Bonds is eventually convicted, I would like to see him in a similar situation as Rose where he isn't even on the HOF ballot.

That would actually be a good idea
