thefelixculpa 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 I ordered a One90 blade and shaft last week from inline warehouse (they came connected already) but it was too long for me.I normally use an 85 flex but I had to cut this shaft down so now it is about a 105 flex.I havn't gotten the chance to try it out yet but I was just wondering what kind of issues can I expect to see with a flex too high for me?I figure my slap shot will not be that good, but will it have any affect on stick handling/passing/ wrist and snap shots? trevor13478 1 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 I figure my slap shot will not be that good, but will it have any affect on stick handling/passing/ wrist and snap shots?all of your shots will suffer if you are using the proper technique, snap shot not so much but mainly you won't get as much pop on your wrister or slapper. joshy207 15 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 Could develop soreness in your arms/elbows if you take a lot of slappers.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 went from 100 to a 85 flex and now use a 75 flex. tried going back to stiff shafts (even with the same length), but cant produce the same shot. For me, I try and utilise the flex of the stick as much as possible, let it do the work for me.
Elwood 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 Many guys I know that went to a much stiffer flex reported developing some tendonitis in the elbow.I just recently went from 105 /102 /100 flex sticks to 87, because my 'low' arm was hurting bad after games. No pain any longer!-Elwood
DEATHTRON 19 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 I used to use much stiffer sticks. Im now down the whip flex tps, the biggest difference's I noticed were that my slapper was BETTER with my high flex stick, but my wrist shots were drastically improved with my whippier stick. The whippier sticks also "lag" a bit more but its nothing I cant live with. Ive found it much easier to go from stiffer to whippier than whippier to stiffer.Zach
ramensandwich 1 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 i went from 100 to 65 and never looked back.with a stiffer stick, your stickhandling will be quicker and more responsive. you may not notice much difference with your wrist shots, but snappers will definitely suffer. your slapshots could go either way. if you are able to flex the 102 then slappers will be better, but if you're not strong enough to take advantage of the higher flex, slappers will be worse. iceburg19 1 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 went from 100 flex (easton ultra lites) to 110 flex,im having a big problem with my slapshot, matter of fact its not even a facter, snap shot feels good, passing feels good also, but you need all types of shots to be effective in a game,im going back to a 100 flex,im going to try a mission m1 just to see if its alittle stiffer then the easton,i was just trying to see if i could get alittle more zip on my shot. odp 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 Anybody else find a whippy stick feels "weird" when taking faceoffs or fighting for the puck along the boards?
tips09 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 ive been using a 100 flex synergy II and when i bought my macdaddy which is also a 100 flex but feels like a 120 i felt that my snap shot which i pretty much always used suffered quite a bit just because of the fact that i really lean into it..My slappers actually didnt suffer to bad
Jarick 5 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 My big issue with the whip flex TPS was that it twisted and sent shots wide of the goal. And slappers were nonexistant. With the "77" flex Endure, slappers are great but I can't load up wristers as easily. But it's broken in from about a 90 to 80 flex after 6 weeks so it's getting better. After checking out a bunch of sticks, I'd like to try a Synergy if I can find a good deal on one. The 85 flex felt whippier than Bauer 77.
Fredrik 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2007 i went from 100 to 65 and never looked back. That's kind of a big jump. Did you skip the 85 flex and went straight from the 100 to the 65 flex?
sabre09923 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2007 My big issue with the whip flex TPS was that it twisted and sent shots wide of the goal. And slappers were nonexistant. That's the stick, not necessarily the flex itself. The shaft/blade was torquing on you causing the shaft to twist, as you described; and that's not the flex's fault. If I remember, the Inno 1100 had some problems with torquing, but I'm not sure.
Andoy 5 Report post Posted August 5, 2007 A flexier/whippier stick won't have any effects on stick handling but you'll find that your snap/wrist shots will improve.
SCATMAN 33 Report post Posted August 5, 2007 i usually use 100 flex synergy's but i had to use a 77 flex Bauer for a while. The thing i noticed most (other than the stick noticeably flexing like a mo-fo!) was that my shots slowed down... using a synergy again now and they are hard and fast again :)
