Hockey Experts still sorta has a sale going on also. They're under-stocked right now because they've done so much business in the past two weeks.

Those 972 Tacks look pretty sick. I'm guessing SMU?

$200 regular price? Sounds like a low end SMU with a model number that you would expect from a more expensive product.

Actually the skate is closer to the older 852 skates and actually had things added but were able to get it at a lesser cost. The outsole is were the cost savings is. All the rest the materials are really good.

How would the fit of these skate compare to a RBK 5K?

I was scrolling through thinking "these prices aren't that great"...then I realized it was Canadian dollars

If you haven't noticed the US$ has basically collapsed over the last few months against a lot of currencies, including the CDN$. $100 US will only buy you about $105 CDN now.

Buying OPS at the retail level in Canada is just retarded, how the hell are XXX lite's still $300? What a joke. I bought my pro-stock Havelid Dolomite at national for $119 but the retail stick is like $269 or something. Those pro-stock 7k's for $99 are tempting though. Also remember since we border on socialism up here, you have to add 14% tax to everything.

We have different markets in Canada. They have more people in the states and stuff can be easier to obtain or there is a larger supply/demand. However, you're right that there's not pricing parity (I think that's what they call it). They still don't HAVE to lower the prices though.

I agree i cannot believe that these high prices are still holding up at my lhs stealths are usually 330 and xxx lites are 300 cdn. It is pretty much the same price as buying online at an american store plus shipping and customs. it seems a little ridiculous. But thats what we get for being in a hockey loving country

Untill people start standing up and not paying $300 for a stick the companies will continue to gouge the Canaidian consumer. But as long as people will pay those kind of prices the companies will charge them. I do realise that the Canadian lhs do pay more for their goods but something needs to be addressed or more and more Canadians will look to the US to get their gear from

its not really about gouging. Gouging would imply that we're paying more money so more goes into their pockets. I really don't think that's the case. As it stands, everything is still priced as if the looney is still $0.66 USD.

It's going to take time for things to really change. It's only been in the past few years that the looney has gone up this high.

Things will definitely have to change if we hit par with the USD or it may cause an uproar.

The Euro is now worth $1.37 US. Scary, it is.

I wasn't implying that it was coming from the LHS they can only set their prices on what they have topay for the goods. But there definately a huge gulf in what the US pays compared to Canada

Yes it is and for some reason the companies dont plan on changing the price lists anytime soon?

Sorry about the high prices were doing our best to get good gear at close out prices for you.

Purchasing power parity is the term you are looking for here.

I've already taken that stand. I've owned Synergy Si-Core's, 7k's, SL's, and the Dolomite to name a few, and the most I ever paid was $189.99 for my retail 7k. I basically will only buy via eBay or pro returns now, but for a time there I was seeing even pro stocks being listed at pretty dumb prices around here.

I don't think it is a case of the LHS gouging us or anything, I'm sure their costs on the sticks are way higher than in the $US, and while I like to support local stores to a degree, there is no way I'm pay $330 for a Stealth that isn't even that new when I can get the same thing for at least $100 cheaper on the internet.
