Nike/Bauer ONE95/ONE75 Skates

after watching this.. wouldent you want a skate to abosrb the shock of a puck? the one95 hardly moved while the s15 did. the S15 absorbed the shock, distrubuting the impact, imo this test is useless and to the common dumb eye it may seem that the one95 has better protection but in actual fact, the S15 does a better job of absorbing the shock

The S15 is not absorbing the shock. Your foot is absorbing the shock. For a moment, imagine your foot is inside each boot when it is hit by the puck. Would you feel safer in the ONE95 or the S15 knowing that each boot will react as they do to the puck that way?

I agree. If those skates were cars getting t-boned in accident, which one would you rather be driving?

Nobody is walking away from a wreck if they were driving an S15.

the s15 does distribute the energy, it distributes it throughout the shell so when the energy is transferred to your foot it is over a much greater surface area resulting in less pressure and therefore less pain. the fact that the one95 doesnt move would lead me to think that the materials are deforming on a very small scale and will eventually break down.

i would have no worries putting my foot in that skate for that test, i have taken many a ripper when i had my s15's and never felt a thing because of how efficient the materials are at dispersing the energy. i would think that most ppl on here would tell you the same, that their s15 are laser beam shields for ur feet.

At the end of the day there are so many different ways to look at it though and the only way is to have someone put their foot in both on the test and see which hurts more lol

just a quick addition for the car example. if your car/skate doesnt disperse energy then when it is hit the people inside(your feet) get smushed, hence the use of crumple zones on cars, altho skates shouldnt have a crumple zone the s15 has a way of dispersing the energy to do the same thing

Anybody know what these skates will sell for at their LHS. I just wanted to see how it compares to what the store i shop at sells them for.

Saw the One95's today. They didn't seem too much lighter. Nice, but didn't seem like anything too special. I was quoted at my LHS for $650 U.S.!

I recall everyone here saying $550!

Nobody said $550.

That's how much I sold the ONE90 for.

I'll have them for $599 and that'll be pretty low. Most shops will probably do $629 and and as high at $650.

I essentially had my One90's set up to be prototype One95's:

- switched out the LSP's put on LS2

- 6mm heel lifts to get me on my toes and combat that heel lock

Next I was planning on putting in felt tongues b/c the current ones suck. The lace bite that I'm getting for the first time in 25 years is frustrating. After all said and done, I have a 1000 bones wrapped up in these units. It pains me to see the One95's will be cheaper with all the stuff that I was going to do anyway (aside of the lifts).

well I was told 499.99 at my LHS... sounds like thats a good price for one95s. I just wanted to check and see how it compared.

Ask yourself this -

If the ONE95 is a better skate than the ONE90, and it costs dealers more money to stock it...then how the HELL is it going to sell for a lower price?

The person you talked to was misinformed. Or he misremembered the price. I'm gonna roll on this "misremember" thing for a while now...thanks Rocket!

Julio18; Why would you do all this when you simply could sell your current skates and get the 0ne95's when they come out? I cant be a money issue if your dropping that kind of cash into your current skates.

No, I was not misinformed... 499.99 is the price. I was shocked as well, for that price I think i'll buy a pair. Its the same price they sold the one90's for. I don't know how they do it but they always seem to have the cheapest prices. I always look around for good prices but i always end up going to the same place.

they do this thing called a member program. Basically you get a discount on hockey stuff if you become a member with them. Anyways, skates come with a free membership, so you pay the "member" price for skates. For whatever reason, might be a legal reason, i dont know... they cant put the member price on the website so they have to put the "normal" price. But no one pays the normal price for skates, everyone gets member price. xxxx sell for 429.

What shop are you talking about? Not asking for an advertisement/endorsement, just a fact report.
