Well I dunno if DarkStar would say I'm a legitmate source to answer this question because I, "Was still in the maternity ward"...but it's Espo, Anders Hedberg, Ron Duguay, and I think Dave maloney (the C). Not sure on the last one though.

*Scratch that, Maloney was 12. I don't know who 26 is.

and you call yourself a Rangers fan, True Blue?

Don Maloney was # 12, Dave Maloney was # 26.

As Chris Russo would say, "That's just a terrible job, Mikey, terrible job!"

You have got to know this stuff.

Hey, I was right the first time, I said Dave! I unfortunately took it back, LOL.

You guessed Dave, but that's ok. Now for Final Jeopardy: He hit John Davidson, his own goalie in the back of the knee with a slapshot after a goal went in the Ranger net. This is easy if you are True Blue.

Nah, I actually asked my old man about the last guy. He thought it was Dave. He's been watching since '68, way before my maternity ward days.

True Blue or True Old? :)

Come on Peter, you used to go to the Garden when they had Wholly Mammoths dragging a wet towel to cut the ice, and Mr. Slate owned the Rags.

Nothing but love man, nothing but love.

I'll call you tomorrow eh?

Yes, Truly Old Blue!

It was Captain Dave Maloney who took a slapshot off the back of JD's knee. That brain cramp cost Davidson a few games in net.

We'll see how the Blueshirts respond tonight with the Leafs in town. I heard Bobby Baun will be on the blue line tonight with Johnny Bower in nets for Toronto. Wasn't that the last time the Leafs won the Cup?

And if you believe in jinxing a team, now the Leafs will win tonight.

Pretty alarming that the effort was not there, unlike in earlier losses where we just couldn't score. Tonight it a big one to see how we come out...

Two dumpers in a row... think anything happens if they lose tomorrow and sunday?

96 whines about it. More.

Thanks, Mack, I'll take it from here...

4-0 and 6-2, ouch. And you're right Theo, no effort from the opening face-off. Not the Rangers we've been seeing.

I said it before, the Rangers can't beat a quick team that transitions well. I've been saying that since they lost to Ottawa the first time. If we run into Carolina or Ottawa in the playoffs, we be screwed. The Toronto game, to me, seemed like we just didn't pick up our assignments in the D Zone and played sloppy overall. I don't think Toronto is necessarily faster than us or smarter, they just capitilized on some of the mistakes we were making...well 6 times anyway.

I've also said somewhere in this thread that I thought the Rangers were working, but that they were still making mistakes and giving up scoring chances, but that we were getting spectacular goaltending to bail us out. As a result, we were winning games and having the lowest GA in the league. I think we are seeing now what happens when we don't get that spectacular goaltending, we lose. The team is not that good! I still question chemistry and we still can't consistently score more than 3 or 4 goals a night. That is going to hurt us in the long run. Jags is skating like he's just collecting a paycheck, again, and the other big names, besides Gomer, are MIA.

If we lose the next two, and I can seriously see us doing that, changes should be made. Jags would obviously have to go :D

Speaking of Jags and leaving - Did anyone hear about the interview out of the Czech Republic where Jags supposedly said something like (and I'm paraphrasing): "I don't care if I get traded. What can I do? It's a business, it happens." It was on one of the Ranger forums, not sure which one, maybe The Rodent? I haven't seen it, so I haven't really attempted to make my electronic bitch-slapping of Jags just yet. But if it's true, wow, our wonderful, fearless leader.

I've read it, 96. And this is going to sound like more excuses, but keep in mind the type of personality Jagr has.

It has been said that he is the least confident superstar the NHL has ever had, and that is true. So the Rangers or the reporter sends a message that perhaps the Rangers don't want Jagr this year. He responds like a guy who is not too confident and puts up a barrier like "I don't care, no loss, etc." Personally I think he loves NY and wants to finish his NHL career here.

Wait, Jagr is on another team that looks disinterested out there? Why can't this guy find a motivated team?

I know you don't watch the games, so please don't comment.

We are talking about words in an interview here, not on ice play

So it's true. I wasn't sure if it was because I never actually saw the interview.

At this point, it doesn't really surprise me and I don't really feel like carrying on with my normal anti-Jags rant (you're welcome, Mack, DS, et. al). I'd like to see him more motivated, but whatever. Ideally, I'd like to see us get him a true #1 center that he can play with. I wonder if Mikey would take a pay-cut to come back to NY...

I realise it may appear he half-asses a lot of things (because he does) but to me it seems pointless and useless to complain about anything Jagr does. Yeah, in a perfect world he'd be Messiering this team thru the year but that's not him nor will it ever be. He's brought that team back to respectability/playoffs and a mopey Jagr is still far better than anything the Rangers have had on the ice since the mid-90s.

Rangers lose again. For those of you paying attention, Dolan hasn't canned Isiah's a$$ after all the shyt in Knicksland, so what makes anyone think Sather, Renney, or Jagr will get the boot? Please, look around MSG and see the big picture. Its pretty obvious nothing will change right away. Get used to it.

Mack, I agree with just about everything you said. My thing is, why shouldn't I expect more from him? He's the captain, that's what captains do. How can it be ok for a person in a role like he's in to be the way he is, when the whole team is supposed to look to him for leadership and inspiration? What message is being sent when "your guy" is moping, half-assing it, and whatever else he does besides place bets.

You're right when you say that's how he is and that's how he's always been. But that only asserts my point that he's a much better #2 than an actual #1. As a captain, you set the standard on and off the ice. That's the way it is. If your captain is doing what Jags does, what is a player on the team supposed to do/think?

But the Rangers woes go beyond Jags. We're in a funk, no doubt. And no, DS, I don't think anything will be done, because Dolanology means you don't do jack when it's damn clear you should. I'm sure they'll find their way out, eventually, but they're losing games that I don't think they should be, and it could cost them in the long run.

So, guys, when do we hit the "Panic Button"?

I agree, you should be able to expect more from a captain but you have to remember that under that jersey and "C" is still Jagr. I'm with you on what to expect from a captain, but I can separate that from Jagr since he's just the way he is.

As for the example he sets and how players may go "he's not trying, why should I?" That's why guys like Shanny are there because he's old school and won't take that crap.

...and exactly why I think Shanny should have the C. I'm beginning to be a broken record, but my Jagr hate was shot down by many on here when I suggested he shouldn't have the C.

I actually bought a ticket to a Devils-Flyers game in January. $200 ticket for $100. I couldn't turn it down. And you know what, I'm actually looking forward to it. The Devils may not be many things, but at least they show up.

I wasn't old enough to see it first-hand, but everything I've heard or read from the Gretzky/Messier Oil days seems like this situation. Gretzky wore the "C" fro them but it was Messier leading the team.

Good on you for the ticket, but I would be watching thru closed fingers waiting to see what horrible douche move the Flyers do to a Devil player.

Shit, I pressed the panic button on this team before the season started.

I'm starting to get concerned that some of the young guys on this team are beginning to lose their confidence. I'm seeing a few signs of that in Girardi already and I think the -4 Dubi put up really spooked him. And none of them are scoring along with the rest of the team so that's obviously not helping matters either. In any case I think we'll see some roster moves after sundays loss even if its just a call up.

Rather off topic, but wtf with Dolan and the Knicks? I mean really... how could it get that bad and people not lose jobs. Amazing.
